After I left the house, I just wandered on the streets till my legs went numb.
Finally,I stopped at a hotel, and decided to use that as my temporary hide-out.
Next thing I did, I booked an online consulting session with a big lawyer, which costed me a fortune.
I told him that I paid for the house, but put it under my parents' name, and asked him if there's chance of getting the house back.
He told me that the only way I could get it back was to prove that I was the actual buyer of the property. For example, any transfer history, or any document that I have to support my statement, should be able to help me get the house back.
If there's one thing that I learnt from my 9 to 5 office job, was to always archive all the documents, so I kept everything in order.
I then hired that lawyer to handle everything on this case, hoping to win the house back.
Once that was done, I collapsed in the bed, stared at the 9-digit balance on my phone, I found myself lost in thoughts.
Ever since I was a kid, I knew Ethan was their favorite, they always thought he's way smarter, and would become more successful than I ever could be.
They even forced me to drop out of high school to work part time for Ethan's "college fund".
So I'd say I understood how the society worked at a very young age.
I've done construction, washed dishes, delivery... you name it, I've probably done it.
As for the house? I saved up for nearly 12 years, to finally afford the house.
I remembered when I tried to sign the contract with the realtor, my parents would cry about me not caring about them enough, tried to convince me to put the house under their names.
At that time, I thought we were family, so without a doubt, I said yes.
But when I got our of the prison, they immediately transferred the house to Ethan's name, and they won't even leave me a room to stay.
I thought to myself, I would never, ever forgive what my parents had done to me. And Ethan, my little brother, I felt nothing but disappointment toward him.
I gave everything to him... I even got locked up for him...
But what did this ungrateful bastard do? He kicked me out of the house.
But thankfully, I was not desperate.
I had so much money in my account that I didn't even know how to spend them.
After a sleepless night, I decided to do some crazy.
The second day, I went to see a realtor, bought the first mansion we saw.
And just because she was nice, I bought eight more- well, the whole block.
Then I paid extra for workers, so they'd install TVs, and furnitures in all the houses within a day.
Right after I moved in, I hired maids to do all the housekeeping, laundry and cooking for me.
As for the rest of my properties, I rented them out.
I did all this, because owning 9 mansions, used to be my wildest dream, but now, it has all come to reality.
Even with the interest and the rent, I have countless money for me to spare.
About a month later, I got a call from my dad:
"Daniel! Have you lost your god damn mind? How dare you sue your family?"
I replied calmly: "I am suing the one who illegally took my house."
She definitely noticed my hesitation, so she clasped her hands together and said:
"Pleeeeease, I kinda told them we were close... Just do me a favor, you don't even need to stay there for a long time."
Looking back at the nearly 30 years I've lived on this planet, one of my biggest flaws that I would say about myself was that, I really couldn't say no to women, especially a cute girl like this.
"You know what? I'll come by later."
Her eyes sparkled with joy after she heard me said yes.
"Great! Wonderful! Perfect! Ok, I'm gonna shut up, we will be waiting for you."
After she left, I changed my pajamas, put on a suit, and left for her house.
But I would never imagine who I'd run into at her house.
When the door opened up, I saw Cathy and Ethan standing at the door, their faces looked like they just got tased when they saw me.
"Da-Daniel? Ew, what a creep, did you follow us here?" Cathy said, her face was frowning.
"You guys know each other?"
At the same time, Lila walked to the door, looked at me and Cathy with a puzzled face.
"Lila, that's the guy I was telling you guys about, remember? The guy that got locked up for five years and tried to steal our house the moment he got out?"
Her squeaky voice soon got everyone's attention, all the guests in the house gathered at the door, and stared at me like I'm Frankenstein.
She seemed to be hyped up by the audience, she then said:
"Now get out! This is a nice neighborhood, not for a homeless criminal like you!"
