Lunch was ready.

During the meal, Li Muchen had the butler and all the servants withdraw, leaving only him and Lu Sheng alone in the spacious dining room.

Surrounded by European aristocratic classical decor, the table was filled with a variety of flavorful dishes, which were very appetizing at a glance.

The table was so long that Lu Sheng doubted whether a person sitting at one end could hear someone at the other end.

So, she disregarded dining etiquette and rules, and directly moved a chair to sit next to Li Muchen.

“Sitting there is too far, I want to be closer to you.”

Her tone was casual and direct, yet very natural.

“I don’t know what you like to eat, but I think you would prefer Chinese food, so I had them prepare dishes from various cuisines.”

“I’m used to it, don’t worry,” Li Muchen said in a low voice as he wiped the corner of her mouth with a napkin, “Are the people from the Lu Family very harsh on you?”

It was probably because he saw she ate quite a lot, he wondered if she normally didn’t get enough food at the Lu Family.

Lu Sheng casually said, “They still provide meals, but I just usually don’t have an appetite.”

“You’ve been at the Lu Family for a few days, do you know who wants to kill you?” Li Muchen narrowed his eyes, “Do you want me to sort this out for you?”

“I know,” Lu Sheng met the man’s gaze, “but you don’t have to help me. I can handle it myself.”

Though they hadn’t known each other long, Li Muchen was inexplicably confident about one thing.

The Lu Family might see Lu Sheng as a country girl, not fit for public display, but he knew, the girl in front of him was far more capable than they imagined.

As she was clear about everything and said she didn’t need his help, naturally she had her own plans.

So, Li Muchen changed the subject, asking: “…do you and Fu Chen from the Fu Family have an engagement?”

Hearing Li Muchen suddenly bring this up, Lu Sheng couldn’t help but laugh: “I thought you wouldn’t ask about this.”

Li Muchen paused, and looked up: “Why did you think I wouldn’t ask?”

“That engagement can be cancelled anytime. You should just pretend it doesn’t exist.”

Looking at the girl’s suddenly enlarged face, the sweet fragrance lingering around his nose, Li Muchen couldn’t help but take a deep breath.

The girl was truly proficient in flirting with him.

“After dinner, let’s go to your bedroom, to the bed.”
