Chapter 1008 

The door to the break room was forcefully opened. The latter part of Silas‘ sentence was caught in his throat as he froze at the door, as still as a statue. 

He blinked hard, but the shocking scene before him remained unchanged. 

Miranda’s slender waist was firmly encircled by Paul’s strong arm, pulling her into a tight embrace. Miranda was tilting her head back, while Paul leaned in close. Their lips glistened faintly in the light, and their gazes were glued onto each other. 

The suggestive tension in the room was so thick that it hadn’t dissipated despite his sudden intrusion. The scent of spring in the air hit Silas full in the face. 

Silas‘ lips quivered, and his fingers trembled with shock. “You… you… you… you two…” 

“Dr. Quinton, where’s Miranda and Dr. Jefferson? Have you found them?” Sandy’s voice drew closer. She seemed to be coming this way.

Snapping back to reality, Silas swiftly squeezed himself through the doorframe and slammed the door shut behind him with a loud bang! The door was shut just moments before Sandy arrived. 

Sandy was puzzled. Did Silas just close the door in her face? He definitely closed it, right? 

Bryan followed close behind. “Sandy? Is Dr. Quinton inside?” 

“Uh… I’m not entirely sure…” 

She had seen a blur of movement and heard the sound of the door closing, but why would Silas suddenly shut the door? 

“Dr. Quinton, what’s the matter? Are you in there?” 

Silas’s palms were sweating profusely. Hearing Sandy’s voice, he forced out a dry chuckle to sound casual and continued, “You guys go ahead and start eating. I need to discuss something with Paul and Miranda. We’ll join you shortly.” 

“Alright.” Sandy nodded at the closed door. “I’ll save you guys some cake then. Don’t take too long, or the cream will melt.” 

“Got it.” 

“Let’s go, Bry. Leave them to it, we’ll dig in first.” 

Their voices grew fainter and eventually faded away entirely. 

Silas opened a crack in the door and peered out to make sure the coast was clear. He let out a long sigh of relief when they were gone. “Phew! That scared me to death!” He patted his chest dramatically. 

Then, he took a deep breath and turned back to face Paul and Miranda. 

The two had separated by now, but Miranda’s cheeks were crimson, and Paul’s breathing was visibly uneven. It was obvious they had been up to no good. 

Silas sized them up and down. Crossing his arms, he stepped forward with a look of disbelief. “You two,
