Chapter 1021 

The mood was perfect that night, but the timing seemed off 

Paul never got the answer to his question. Miranda adjusted her clothes and flexed her sore hands before turning to look at the man on the bed. “I’m going home. 

After a few seconds, Paul sat up. “T’ll walk you…” 

“No need,” Miranda interrupted him. “You should put on your pants first. The air conditioning is on, so don’t catch a cold.” 

With that, she headed straight home. 

Miranda shut the door and patted her flushed cheeks. Suddenly, she froze mid–action and turned to the bathroom. The first thing she did was to wash her hands. 

She thought he wouldn’t dare, but who knew….. 

All men were perverts! 

Paul put on his pants and saw Miranda at the door before returning to sit on the couch in the living room. His mind was still preoccupied with the blissful sensations, and his body felt like it was floating. The lingering pleasure he felt was simply 

Wonderful 

It was as if fireworks had gone off in his brain, dazzling and intoxicating him. He wished to stay in the moment forever 

At that moment, his gaze landed on the coffee table nearby. He had left Emilia’s gift on the table after unwrapping it this morning before work 

“Light it, and you might be surprised.” Miranda’s words from that moming replayed in his mind. 

Paul’s eyes flickered, and he found a lighter in the corner. He lit the round candle and placed it on the holder. 

The yellow flame radiated a warm orange glow, casting flickering shadows on the walls. Paul couldn’t help but be lost in thought as he stared at the candlelight. 

Inexplicably, the scene of their bodies intertwined together resurfaced in his mind, while the sound of her soft complaint echoed in his ear, “My hand feels sore…” 

Suddenly, Paul’s gaze sharpened as he caught sight of something. He leaned closer to the candle holder…. 

More precisely, to the half–melted candle. The wax had melted under the heat, revealing a sentence written with neat handwriting, “I like you.” 

Years of hidden affection and Emilia’s confession were finally brought to light at that moment. 

Paul’s body stiffened. 

Miranda had a good night’s sleep. She had no classes as it was a Saturday, and she hadn’t planned to go to the lab either. After all, she had promised Paul they would go out on a date together. 

This would be considered their first official date since they got together.

Miranda chose a long floral dress and tied a plain silk scarf around her hair. She braided it into a braid and draped her hair over her shoulder. It was a simple, yet refreshing look. 

After putting on some light makeup, she headed across the ball to knock on his door. 

Soon, the door opened. Paul was already dressed, but his shirt sleeves were rolled up. Yesterday, he had said he would make breakfast that day. 

Miranda had come over in her house slippers just to eat breakfast. 

“It smells delicious.” The aroma hit her as soon as she walked inside. “What’s in the pot?” 

“Mushroom soup,” Paul said.. 

“Is this another recipe you learned online?” 

“Yes” 

“he nodded. 

Miranda sat down, and Paul placed a steaming bowl of mushroom soup in front of her. 

“Try it.” 

Miranda took a sip with a spoon. “Ouch, it’s hot!”
