The driver brought the car over and pulled up to the side of the road. “Madam,” he greeted her. 

Susan got into the car and sighed dejectedly. “Let’s go home 

As the car drove off, Paul and Miranda were crossing the street with shopping bags in their hands. The two of them and the car just missed each other. 

Paul said, “Let me carry everything.” Then, he took the shopping bags from her hands. 

Miranda didn’t argue because she knew she couldn’t win. Plus, the bags were indeed quite heavy. 

As they reached the entrance of the alley, Paul suddenly asked, “Have you adjusted to the lab at Dunham College?” 

Miranda nodded. “Not only is the lab fully equipped, it’s also comfortable and spacious. Dr. Fischer is nice, and the senior students under him are very considerate as well. They always made sure to register our share for us whenever they picked up lab supplies.

“I ran into Dr. Fischer at a meeting this morning.” 

Her thoughts raced as an apologetic look appeared on Miranda’s face. “I’m sorry. I didn’t expect this to blow up and reach Dr. Fischer, Did he… complain to you?” 

By the end, her head was completely lowered in embarrassment and shame. 

Charles had only lent them the lab out of respect and as a favor to Paul. Now that this incident happened, she feared that he blamed Paul for it. 

“I’m sorry, Dr. Jefferson, I- 

“Why are you apologizing?” Paul stopped in his tracks abruptly. 

Miranda also stopped walking. She looked up and unexpectedly met his deep, intense gaze. “Because I’ve caused you trouble.” 

He sighed softly. “I just wanted to say that you did nothing wrong in this situation. You don’t need to
