The meal went relatively well, thanks to the relaxed atmosphere Willow intentionally created. However, during dinner, Hansel ordered a bottle of red wine. By the time the wine was finished, he was already intoxicated.

Seeing the state he was in, Willow helped him to the car. Dan seemed surprised by this and asked, “Is Mr.

“He’s drunk,” Willow answered. “Please take him home.” 

Dan suddenly asked, “Ms. Spencer, would you like to join us?” 

Willow hesitated for a moment. 

“Please don’t misunderstand,” Dan clarified. “At this hour, Martha should be off–duty, so the mansion is empty. But in his condition, Mr. Johnson will need someone to look after him. If you don’t mind. 

“Of course, I don’t mind.” Willow replied. “Let’s go.” 

With that, she got into the car. 

Soon, Dan dropped them off and left. Willow supported Hansel as they entered the house, which was indeed dark and empty, just as Dan had mentioned. She settled him on the living room sofa and finally breathed a sigh of relief. 

Hansel seemed restless. His eyes were shut, but his brow furrowed in discomfort. Willow noticed how uncomfortable he looked, so she gently removed his jacket and unbuttoned the top few buttons of his 

shirt. 

Instantly, he seemed to relax. At the very least, he was no longer frowning. 

Willow then checked the time and saw that it was nearly 10:00 pm. She headed into the kitchen and returned shortly with a glass of warm water, placing it on the coffee table. 

Then, she grabbed a pillow and placed it under his Mead. After feeling his forehead to ensure he wasn’t feverish, she tiptoed out. The sound of the door closing echoed distinctly through the quiet night. 

As soon as she left, Hansel’s eyes snapped open. He had never been drunk at all. 

He’d done this deliberately to test Willow. The moment she’d said that she didn’t want money, his guard went up instantly. A woman who didn’t want money often wanted something bigger. 

Perhaps it was love, marriage, or a title. 

While it might have seemed paranoid or unnecessary in hindsight, Hansel still felt the test was warranted. He wasn’t about to end up with another woman like Ingrid.
