Miranda froze in surprise. 

Sam was wearing a well–fitted black coat that accentuated his broad shoulders and narrow waist. But his face looked thinner. His cheeks were slightly sunken, making his dark eyes appear even deeper and more mysterious.

Sam watched her retreating figure as she walked away, then looked down at the tea in the cup she gave him.

Sam didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at this moment. He had once wished for this to happen countless times, but now that it had come true, it was due to the change in their

Miranda’s eyes were bright and her complexion radiant after a good night’s rest yesterday, complementing her petite face and dainty features. “I’m ready. Let’s go,‘Sam!” 

Her gentle voice brushed over him like a feather, leaving a tingling sensation in his heart. 

“Sam?” she asked again. 

Sam snapped back to reality and got up from the couch hastily. “Yes, let’s go.”

Sam cleared his throat. “One is enough. Thanks.” 

As they opened the door, the door across from them did the same. Paul was holding a garbage bag, seemingly about to take out the trash. They both froze upon seeing each other. 

Sam smirked and said, “Dr. Jefferson, did you not go to the lab today? What a coincidence to be running into you like this.”
