Paul was at a loss for words. 

Miranda spoke again, “I’ll need to wait a little longer. Dr. Jefferson, why don’t you head to the garage first?” 

“Alright.” 

He wanted to stay, but there was no suitable excuse. In the end, he had no choice but to leave 

first. 

Miranda stood by the side of the road for about five minutes before a flashy yellow Ferrari pulled up. The roaring engine reverberated loudly at the entrance of the alley. 

Winter stuck her head out of the driver’s side window and whistled at Miranda playfully. “Dear princess, your chariot awaits!” 

A smile lit up Miranda’s face immediately. “I’m coming!” 

She settled into the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt. “Did you change your car again?” 

“Nope, this one belongs to Zach.” 

“Oh!” 

“What’s with your reaction? Winter rolled her eyes. 

“Just ignore me. You should focus on driving. There’s no need to ask questions. You already know the answer.‘ 

“Tsk! Why do you sound more and more like Paul these days? Your words are becoming more cryptic!” 

Miranda paused for a moment at the mention of Paul. However, she quickly recovered and turned on the music. 

A song by Jay Cox played inside the car. 

“I just can’t bring myself to tell her, and I can’t utter those few simple words. 

“My heart is suspended in mid–air, but all I can do is watch from afar…” 

Winter didn’t like the song and skipped to the next track. 

“She was hoping that you’d win her back, but you let her go.. 

“As a man, how could you be such a coward? 

“You love her, but you dared not ask her to wait for you. 

“While you settle for less, she’ll find a better man…”

Winter hummed along and swayed to the rhythm as she drove. 

Instinctively, Miranda tightened her grip on the seatbelt. “Focus on the road! You’re driving!” 

Winter immediately straightened up. “Ahem, I’m sorry! I’ve been so busy lately that I got carried away as soon as I had some time to relax. 

“Mimi, you don’t know how rough it’s been for me. I had to work overtime, pull all–nighters, and work nonstop. I don’t even have time to go to the beauty salon. Look at my dark circles and these two pimples…” 

Miranda examined her face closely. “Don’t worry, you’re still gorgeous. 

Winter replied, “Really?” 

“I never lie.” Miranda made sure she gave her friend full validation and moral support. 

“Hmm… I’m thinking of changing my hairstyle. Do you want to join me?” Winter asked.
