Just as Sofia was thinking this, her mother, Nina Burke knocked on the door outside. 

“Sofia, your classmate is here to see you.” 

“Huh? A classmate? Who would be looking for me this late?” Sofia asked, puzzled. As soon as the words left her mouth, she saw Isabel standing in the doorway, a faint, indifferent smile on her face as she looked at her with an unreadable gaze. 

The sight sent a chill down Sofia’s spine, her hair standing on end. 

“Isabel, why… why are you here?” 

Isabel stepped into Sofia’s room uninvited, her tone calm but pointed. “I’m here because of what you said Your entire family is finished.” 

Sofia instinctively opened her mouth, caught off guard. “I–I said it. So what? What can you do about it?” 

Even now, she kept her chin defiantly high, exuding an air of arrogance. 

“Nothing. Just making sure your boyfriend dumps you,” Isabel said calmly. 

It was as if a single drop of water had fallen into a pot of hot oil inside Sofia’s heart, instantly sizzling.

widened in disbelief as she stared at Isabel. 

“You, it’s you! No, that’s impossible!” Sofia shook her head in a panic, her mind spiraling. “How could it be you? How could you have that kind of power?” 

Isabel idly picked up a trinket from her desk and twirled it between her fingers. Her face wore a bored, rebellious expression. 

“Not only can I make your boyfriend break up with you, but I can also have your entire family kicked out of Solaria tonight.” 

Isabel deliberately emphasized the words entire family. 

In her past life, she had no family, which made those two words the most sacred to her in this one. No matter how much Sofia insulted her, Isabel rarely cared, at worst, she’d slap her and move on. 

But Sofia had crossed the line this time. First, she involved Xander, and now she had the audacity to involve her family. 

“Hahaha!” Sofia burst into laughter. “What are you even bluffing about? My boyfriend and I haven’t broken up. at all. As for my family, who do you think you are? Do you think Solaria belongs to you? You think you can just kick us out and-” 

Before Sofia could finish, Nina rushed in anxiously. 

Sofia! Something’s wrong! Hurry and pack your things! Your dad borrowed money from a loan shark, and they’re here to collect!” 

Sofia’s heart sank as panic washed over her. She glanced at Isabel, then quickly turned to Nina.

“I thought they agreed to give us six more months! Didn’t they agree? Why are they suddenly coming after us now?” Nina asked in a trembling voice. 

Sofia’s panic deepened, not just because of what Nina was saying, but because of Isabel’s reaction. 

Isabel was still idly toying with the trinket in her hand, her expression calm and composed. It was as if she truly was the mastermind behind everything. 

But, wasn’t Isabel kicked out of the family? Even if she were still part of the Zimmermans, could she really have the power to destroy Sofia’s entire family so quickly? 

“Isabel, is it really you?” Sofia asked, although disbelief lingered in her voice. 

At that moment, the loud buzzing of a phone cut through the tension. 

Isabel answered the phone. “You’ve caught Harry Burke? Great. Just send him straight to the loan sharks.” 

Harry Burke was Sofia’s father! 

Sofia stared at Isabel in horror. “Y–you’re lying to me, aren’t you?” 

As soon as Isabel hung up, Nina received a call from Harry. 

“What did you say? You’ve been caught?!” 

As those words left Nina’s lips, Sofia was completely paralyzed with fear. 

It took Sofia a full three seconds to process what she had just heard. Slowly, she turned her stiff neck and fixed her gaze on Isabel. 

“Isabel, you can’t do this. You can’t be so heartless. You have to let my dad go, or else … or else … * 

ZOr else?” Isabel raised an eyebrow, her expression smug and cold, her eyes gleaming with a sense of 

superiority, as if daring Sofia to challenge her. 

Sofia inhaled sharply, then bent at the waist, lowering her head so deeply it nearly touched the floor. 

“I’m sorry, I was wrong!” 

Sofia’s heart was torn between fear and resentment. She thought to herself that Isabel was so capable that she must be a mistress being kept by someone, just like the rumors on the Internet.
