Laurel and Eva exchanged puzzled glances, their expressions mirroring confusion as they looked at Kaleb.

Kaleb quickly descended the stairs and greeted the guest warmly. "Mr. Max, please have a seat."

"Kaleb, do you know him?" Laurel couldn't help but ask.

Kaleb introduced him with enthusiasm, "This is Mr. Max Hunt of EastRise."

EastRise?

Laurel and Eva were utterly shocked.

EastRise was a titan in the entertainment industry, a company that dominated the national market.

Though the Johnson Group was no small player, they weren't even in the same league as EastRise.

What truly baffled them was why someone of Max's stature would show up at their home—and he had just been in a scuffle with their bodyguards.

This didn't seem like a simple visit.

Neither of them had paid close attention to what Max just said.

"Mr. Max, to what do we owe the honor of your visit?" Kaleb asked cautiously.

He hadn't caught what Max had said earlier, but his instincts told him this visit must be business-related.

As businessmen, what else could they possibly discuss?

Business deals, of course!

Kaleb's heart raced with anticipation, nearly betraying his excitement.

Max pulled out his phone revealing a photo of Yvette on his lock screen.

"She's my wife. Now do you understand why I'm here?"

Eva's face turned pale. Her legs gave out as she stumbled back several steps, finally stopping only when her lower back hit the stair railing.

Laurel and Kaleb weren't faring much better as they stared at the image on Max's phone in disbelief.

It was Yvette!

Isabel's close friend!

They had all met her before.

"No-no way!" Eva gasped.

Yvette wasn't particularly attractive, nor did she possess any noteworthy talents. She was just an ordinary girl—how could she have suddenly become the wife of EastRise's heir?

It was simply too unbelievable!

However, this wasn't the time to be astonished. Earlier in the day, Eva had almost tripped Yvette. Clearly, Max was here to seek justice.

She had to explain quickly!

"Mr. Max, I swear it wasn't intentional! It was chaotic at the time, and Yvette just happened to trip over my leg. It was a complete accident!" Eva's eyes reddened as she feigned pitiful innocence.

"Yes, Mr. Max! Please don't misunderstand Eva. She's the kindest soul! There's no way she'd harm your wife, especially knowing she's pregnant!" Laurel chimed in, eager to defend Eva.

As she spoke, Laurel thought of something.

"It must be Isabel! She must have been slandering us, Mr. Max! You shouldn't believe a word she says. That girl is vile! Back when she was engaged to my son, she even pushed me into the water. How can you trust someone like her?" she shouted.

Max looked at the absurd scene before him and shook his head in exasperation.

"I knew you'd deny it, so before coming, I made sure to pull up the surveillance footage."

He searched for the footage on his phone and tapped play.
