Chapter 229 A Disgusting Scene
Isabel's attention instinctively fell on Xander's exposed chest.

His well-defined pecs and abs were flawless.

This guy was definitely trying to seduce me!

Did he think I was that easy to tempt?

I wouldn't look!

While Isabel's mind struggled, her body betrayed her, and she couldn't control her gaze, which remained fixed on him.

"Hm?" The man's deep, magnetic voice was so captivating.

Startled, Isabel snapped out of her daze. Once she regained her composure, she remembered she had left her earlier words unfinished.

"We're in a contract marriage, limited to one year. It's not a real marriage, and we're not even boyfriend and girlfriend. Yet, you keep kissing me and taking advantage of me. Don't you think that's inappropriate?"

Xander's dark eyes locked onto her without blinking. After a moment of silence, he said, "Fine. From now on, you're free to return everything I've done to you."

Isabel's mouth fell open slightly. Her gaze drifted from the man's extraordinarily handsome face down to his sharp jawline, then further down to his Adam's apple that exuded masculine charm. And then ...

Ugh. This was a vicious cycle.

Finally, Isabel rubbed her temples.

Return it? Wouldn't that just put her in the same situation again?

"Anything else?" she asked.

"No," Xander replied decisively.

Forget it. Clearly, this conversation was going nowhere.

The moment Xander left the room, Yvette snuck in with a sly grin plastered on her face. Her teasing gaze made Isabel's scalp tingle.

"Come on, spill it. Did you two, you know, do it last night?"

Isabel rolled her eyes at her and glanced down at her stomach. "Do you think that's even possible? What do you take me for—someone as reckless as you?"

"Hey, I was just asking. Why bring me into this?"

"Well, it has nothing to do with you, of course. You only have a thing with Max."

And so, Isabel and Yvette began to bicker again.

"Enough about that," Yvette said, waving it off. "There's an event tonight. A little get-together with our friends. Want to join?"

"Sure. Might as well unwind a bit."

That evening, Isabel drove herself and Yvette to an entertainment club for the gathering.

As soon as they stepped inside, a familiar figure crossed their path.

"Hey, Isabel, look! Isn't that ... " Yvette tugged on Isabel's shoulder.

Following Yvette's gaze, Isabel saw a plump man sitting in a booth with a woman draped over him.

His hands roamed freely under her clothes, and the woman leaned coquettishly into his embrace, whining and purring.

The man, clearly enjoying himself, pulled out a 500-dollar bill and stuffed it into the low neckline of her dress. The woman's chest was almost fully exposed with a slight tug.

"It's her?"

It was Jessica, Reggie's former fiancée.

Back when Jessica had been with Reggie, she wasn't particularly stunning, but her sweet face had earned her a reputation as someone pure and innocent at their school.
