Chapter 284 Xander Strongly Defends Isabel
What the heck is going on?

Early in the morning, Ivana was picking a fight with her for no reason at all. I hadn't done anything to provoke her.

After glaring at Isabel fiercely, Ivana turned to Xander.

"Xan, you can't be this heartless. Rachel is seriously ill—she's in the hospital! What harm would it do for you to visit her just once? Are you worried that Isabel will get jealous? If that's the case, then that woman is far too petty!"

Ivana said, throwing another sharp glare at Isabel.

Isabel looked back at her with an innocent expression. She hadn't said anything, hadn't done anything—how was this all her fault?

It was just like the saying goes: when you dislike someone, everything they do feels wrong, even if they do nothing at all.

Ivana was feeling that way about her.

Rachel was sick?

Isabel barely suppressed a smile.

"Mom, this has nothing to do with Isabel. Stop taking your anger out on her."

After a brief pause, Ivana glared at Isabel upstairs, then turned back to Xander. "Xan, let me ask you something. Are you going to protect her no matter what today?"

"I'm not defending her blindly," Xander said, his voice calm but firm. "I'm standing on the side of fairness. You have no evidence, and she hasn't done anything wrong. As her husband, I can't just blindly side with you out of duty."

"Fine, fine!" Ivana snapped, changing her tone. "But what if she is in the wrong?"

Xander lowered his gaze, thinking for a moment before speaking again, his voice resolute. "I'm her husband. If she's at fault, I'll take responsibility for it."

Isabel was slightly taken aback. She hadn't realized her mouth was slightly open, her eyes staring down at Xander in stunned silence.
