Hayley’s POV:
“Dang it!”
The moment I saw the man in my arms, I practically growled at him through gritted teeth. “Why do you keep haunting me like some bad dream?!”
གས་
Truman blinked innocently. “I could ask you the same thing. What did you say to Melody? The moment I woke up, she kicked me out.”
He leaned against me with zero shame, pretending to be weak. “I feel drained and powerless right now. You should really take responsibility for me.”
He wasn’t even trying to support his own weight, leaving me to half–carry him like some clingy, shameless leech.
This jerk was impossible! I’d already realized back in the hall that he was perfectly fine–yet here he was, putting on a whole show right in front of me.
If it weren’t for the dozen things I had to consider, I’d have let Hera take over by now and torn a hole in his neck!
“Ms. Carson, do you know this guy?” Horace asked from beside me. “Is he drunk or bothering you? Want me to take care of him?”
“No need!”
“Back off!”
Truman and I barked in unison, catching Horace completely off guard. His eyes widened in shock.
Truman turned and gave him a long, steady look–calm, yet so practically rolled off him like heatwaves.
full of pressure, the Alpha dominance
I was torn.
Sure, I didn’t want anything to do with Truman. But I also didn’t want to give Horace any more reason to linger around me.
“It’s fine. He’s a friend. We had some things to talk about,” I said smoothly, turning to Horace. “You don’t need to worry about it, Mr. Boyd.”
Before Horace could reply, I tugged Truman upright, spun around, opened the door, and shoved him inside.
Then I promptly slammed the door shut.
The door clicked shut right in front of him.
Horace stood frozen for a moment before the realization hit. His handsome face darkened.
Did this Omega just reject him for that weak–looking guy?

Ras
Something didn’t seem right. Wasn’t her mate supposed to be Benjamin, the Alpha from Midnight Pack Then what was she doing getting cozy with that other man?
And more importantly, he could feel it–the hesitation in her eyes, the secret they were clearly trying to hide.
Could it be Hayley was seeing that man behind Benjamin’s back?
If so, that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. It proved her relationship with Benjamin wasn’t as solid as everyone thought.
Still, the image of her in his mind–pure, clever, charming–suddenly wasn’t quite so flawless.
Objectively speaking, Hayley was a catch. Among women, she stood out. She was qualified to match with him.
Even as a low–ranked Omega, she had presence–and her godfather was Johnny Estrada, no less.
But the more he thought about her messy personal life, the more Horace started to feel put off.
As he walked away, he couldn’t help but wonder, maybe they could consider an open relationship after marriage?
Hayley’s POV:
I leaned against the door, peeking out the peephole.
Only when I saw Horace walking off did I finally exhale.
Then I slowly turned, eyes narrowed, to glare at Truman–whom I had pinned against the wall with my hand gripping his neck.
“Once that elevator door shuts, you’re out of here too. Got that?”
“Nope,” he replied with a cheeky grin, completely unfazed. He reached up and lightly touched the hand I was choking him with.
I immediately yanked my hand away. “You better behave yourself, or else!”
