“Is that so? Are you so sure?” I asked Victoria with a sneer, watching her face closel
Victoria’s perfectly painted lips twitched slightly. “Of course!” she retorted, but I could see the uncertainty in
her eyes.
I took a step closer, lowering my voice. “Victoria, I overheard Eleanor calling you last night.”
Her expression remained neutral, but I noticed her fingers tense at her sides.
“If Ethan knew that your first place win in the Pack Healer’s Crystal Competition was bought by Eleanor for fifty million dollars…
The effect was immediate. Victoria’s pupils constricted with shock, her composure momentarily shattered.
She hadn’t expected this.
But Victoria Frost wasn’t one to stay rattled for long. Within seconds, she had regained her poise, her lips curving into a calculated smile.
“So what?” she challenged, tossing her hair back. “Olivia, don’t tell me you plan to tell Ethan.
She laughed derisively, the sound grating on my nerves. “Do you think Ethan would believe you just based on
your words?”
The truth in her statement hit harder than any physical blow. I lowered my eyes, unable to maintain my
defiant stance.
“Of course he won’t, I murmured.
A wave of bitterness washed over me as I acknowledged the reality of my situation. If only Ethan had a shred
of trust in me, I wouldn’t have to endure this humiliation.
Victoria’s smile widened, triumph gleaming in her eyes. She thought she’d won.
