I just learned that Malachi has a brother, and he doesn't seem happy about him being here. ‘What could have happened between them to make him feel this much anger at seeing him?’ I wonder, glancing between Malachi and his brother. "What's going on, Malachi," I ask. He looks at me, finally taking his gaze from his brother. "Let's just say, he is bad news," he vaguely answers. "What happened to you two?" I question further, but he doesn't answer; only stares at the man that is now coming towards us.
"Malachi, it's been many years, brother," The man says, then turns his eyes to me. "Who is this beautiful creature?" He asks. Malachi wraps his arm around my waist and moves me behind him. "She is none of your business," He snarls. Not liking his answer, I move from behind him to speak. "I am Chloe," I announce, holding out my hand to shake his. He takes my hand and kisses the top softly. “A pleasure to meet you, Chloe,” he says in almost a whisper.
"Alaric, keep your hands off her. Do you hear me!" Malachi growls as if his wolf is going to show himself. The man, Alaric, simply stares at Malachi, unfazed by the threatening man in front of him. "Calm down brother. I have only come to give my best wishes to the happy couple," he says calmly. "But I can see you are not happy to see me," he smirks. "Well, you figured right, brother," Malachi answers maliciously. "Can you both stop!" I demand. They both turn to look at me. "I believe the lady has a point brother. Let's be civil for the sake of your friends, but I would like to say one thing: Malachi. You have found yourself, one gorgeous human, as your mate,” he says, eyeing my body and Malachi lost it. He grabs his brother so fast and throws him to the floor. In seconds Malachi is on top of him, throwing punches.
"Malachi, Stop!” I yell, but that doesn't do any good; they are both throwing punches now. Paul runs over to break it up. "Stop! The two of you outside, now!" Paul demands and keeps himself between the two brothers as they walk out. Amelia comes over to me. "What just happened?" she asks. "I have no clue, but they seem to hate each other," I state. Amelia looks towards the door they left out to see Paul coming back with both the men in tow. "Amelia, I'm sorry, my love," He apologizes to his wife. "It's okay, let's get back to our dance,” Amelia smiles, pulling him to the dance floor.
Malachi reaches me, giving me a look like we need to talk as he walks past me, and I follow him. Once we get around the corner, he turns to face me. "Alaric is not someone you can trust. Please promise me you won't let him fool you," he asks softly. I see the hurt in his eyes that his brother has caused. "Okay, I promise," I say. Malachi lifts me bridal style and carries me back to the dance floor. I couldn’t contain my laughter the whole way.
He puts me down slowly on the floor, holding me close to him, and we sway to the music, our bodies never breaking away. He caresses my cheek and I peer up into his eyes. "I love you, Luna," He declares. Before I can say it back, Paul comes over with Amelia hand and hand. "Hey, guys!" Amelia says. I’m beginning to think her disruptions are on purpose. "Malachi, some of the guys from the Centralia pack would like a word with you," Paul says. "Okay, let's go,” Malachi says. He looks at me and cups my face. "I'll be back, my Luna." He declares and kisses my forehead, then they both walk off.
"What do you think so far?" Amelia asks. "It's so beautiful, Amelia. I'm so happy for you!" I declare and she wraps her arms around me, hugging me tightly. "Love you, Chloe! I have to get back to Paul's parents now. I'll find you later, okay,” she states. I blow her a kiss as she walks off.
I walk to the balcony to get some fresh air. I haven't been feeling well lately. I think all of the stress is getting to me. I hear the door behind me close, and I turn around thinking Malachi came to find me, but I come face to face with Alaric. He stands not far from me, looking at me as if he can read me like an open book. "Can I help you?" I ask. "Oh, I'm sorry for staring; you're just so beautiful it's hard to resist." He claims. I look around to see if I can find Malachi, but I don't see him. "Well, I better go," I say, not wanting to be alone with him.
