I walked into the kitchen with Nathan and we’d had a couple of drinks together and I could feel that it was having an effect on me. Nathan seemed fine. But I’m guessing he drank a lot more than I did. I didn’t mind though. It was good to try and forget my problems for one night and to try and have some fun. I didn’t know where Tristan had disappeared to. He and Leia were probably somewhere making up. And I had to be honest, I didn’t mind spending time with Nathan. I know that he was more flirty than Tristan, but he was also more laid back. He wasn’t as serious. I was actually enjoying myself and he seemed to like having my attention as well. At least, that’s what I thought.

I went to get myself another drink and when I turned back, I realized that Nathan was gone. I leaned against the island and I got distracted for a minute when it sounded like a couple of kids were fighting in the backyard. I saw Tristan standing back away from the kids that were fighting but Leia was right in the front egging them on. I didn’t really expect anything different from her. But now I knew where he was. I assumed Nathan had gone to the bathroom. So I was just going to stay here and wait. But when I turned back around from looking at the fight, there was a man standing off to the side of the room staring at me that I didn’t know. He was pretty good looking but he was making me a little nervous by the way that he was staring at me. He wasn’t with anyone. He was there by himself, fixated on me. I looked around for Nathan, but he still wasn’t anywhere to be seen. He was here a minute ago.

I was starting to wonder where Wendy was. She said that she was going to be here, but I hadn’t seen her all night.

I guess that’s not really surprising. There were people everywhere. It would be really easy to miss someone who arrived late or anything like that.

I took a few sips of my drink and I looked at it thinking that it tasted different to what it did earlier.

I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my head that came out of nowhere. I tried to talk to Ava but she wasn’t there. I assumed that it was because of the amount of alcohol I had drunk. I just couldn’t hear her.

I then saw that man walking closer to me and he stopped right in front of me.

“Hi there.” He said.

“Hi.” I said.

“I’m Jared.” He introduced.

“I don’t mean to be rude. I need to go somewhere a little quieter.” I said, trying to walk past him. But he stood in the way.

“Hang on. I just want to talk to you. I’ve noticed you ever since you started at our school.” He said.

“I think everybody’s noticed me.” I said.

“Yeah. I guess it is pretty hard to be a new kid at a school like ours.” He said.

I started feeling this really bad burning in my stomach and I felt like I was going to start screaming.

I had to hold it in though but I was sweating profusely and my headache was getting even worse.

“Hey, are you alright?” Jared asked.

“No. I really feel like I’m going to be sick.” I said.

“Alright. Come with me.” He said.
