ROSE

I was now sitting on the back of the truck belonging to the wolf and his daughter, who had offered to give me a ride to Cremona. While I waited, I looked at the market and tried to find out where that pulling feeling came from. But I never found it, so when it was time, I decided to go, try not to think too much about it, and continue my trip.

Just before the man and his daughter had to make a turn, he stopped the truck and helped me off with my things. After showing me where I was on my map, I told him thank you, and he got back into the car, and they left.

I know I need to keep going and keep to my plan, so I take my bag and start walking. On my own and alone, walking out on a straight route, my thoughts flicker back to the feeling of a pull. And I can not help but wonder if what I felt was my second chance, mate.

A second chance is not something we hear about very often, mostly because it usually only happens to rejected wolves. And yes, I was rejected, but I also don’t have a wolf, and I have a broken soul, so a second chance is too much to hope for.

With my thoughts all over the place, I walk through a few very small towns, if you can call them that. Around three hours and thirty minutes later, I walked into Cremona.

Even in a big town, this place seems to be very quiet, but I am too tired to worry about that, so I am going to look for a hotel. I find it and walk inside. The place is nice, and an older person is standing by the counter for check-in. I walk over there.

“Hello. My name is Rose. I am currently traveling through Italy and would like a room for the night.” I say, smiling, and the woman smiles big.

“I know who you are, Princess. I am Anete. My mate Elio is the wolf in charge of this town, reporting to the Alpha,” the woman told me. So that’s why Mateo said to look for this place, smart.

“Nice to meet you, Anete,” I say, tired but smiling.

“My poor girl, you must be exhausted. Let’s get you situated, and then I will bring you food. My Elio is out tonight, so you won’t meet him before breakfast,” Anete tells me.

“That is okay, thank you. I am quite tired,” I say. She nods her head and grabs a key behind her.

“Follow me, Princess.” She says, and I do.

She leads me out the back to what looks like a small guesthouse and opens the door. Walking inside, I was stunned by this calm and beautiful room. It's one big room, like a one-room apartment. The bed looks so comfy, and in one of the corners, there is a spa in the floor.

Anete saw me looking at it and walked over to it, pushing a button on the wall. The water started heating up, and she added some scented lavender oil and rose leaves to it.

“I think you could use this to relax a little. You rest, and I'll make some food. I will knock on the door before walking in,” she says, and I think her. She is not wrong, and I could use this.

She leaves, and I undress and get in the water. My body instantly relaxes. I grab my phone, find the family chat that Noah made, and send them all a message.

>> I love you all. I am in Cremona now, which is the border town, before going into the next territory tomorrow. I am exhausted, so I relax while I wait for food and go to sleep after I have eaten. I have a feeling I won't have much sleep while I am in the next territory. I just wanted to let you all know. Hugs from me. << I write and click send, and it doesn’t take long before they answer.
