“Then enlighten me, why did you come this way to see me.” Mia sneers at me.

When I look at her, the fake warmth I saw in her eyes is gone. All I see is coldness, jealousy, and hate. I began to think that it was a mistake to meet her.

“I want answers. I need answers.” I say as I look at her.

“And what answers could I possibly give to you?” She asks coldly.

“Why did you reject me when I was a baby? Why did you break the bond between a mother and child? You rejected my Dad, fine, but why me? What was so wrong with me that you would do that?” I ask her whispering the last part.

“That’s easy. You were a girl, and you were worthless.” She answers without as much as blinking.

“Because I was a girl?” I say.

“Yes, I wanted a boy. I needed a boy, an heir, to your dad’s throne.” She says.

“But Dad was not king back then. He was just an Alpha.” I say.

“I knew about your dad’s bloodline. That’s why I sought help from a witch to form the matebond or the illusion of one. As long as your dad marked me, he would never know I wasn’t his fated mate. But you were a girl, and worthless, and your dad was all about you. I got tired of it. So I left, broke all bonds.” She says, and I didn’t think I would be, but I am shocked.

I already knew she was never his true mate, but for her to admit it and tell me why. I did expect that.

“YOU broke me! I never had my wolf, my first mate rejected me because of that. Dad always took care of and so did Mom, even before she learned that Dad was her mate. She loved a child, even though she did not have to. And you, you left me without a second thought. I don’t regret coming here, because I found Enzo, and completing the matebond, healed what you broke.” I say.

“Hearing you say what you have, I know it was not me that was the problem. It was your selfish act of not caring about anyone else but yourself. I am happy I heard you say it. Now I know not only for 100% but much more that when Dad sent you away, it was out of love for me.” I finish and turn to Enzo.

“Get me out of here, please,” I tell Enzo.
