MADELEINE

It had been a few days since my parents and their pack left. And I had not been feeling like myself today. I felt hot, as if it kept getting hotter, and I would start burning. I mindlinked Olivia and told her I couldn’t come over today because I didn’t feel well.

So I was surprised when it knocked on my door, and she stood outside.

“My queen, I do not want you to get sick,” I said, surprised.

“Nonsense, my girl. Let me check on you.” She said, and I let her inside.

She touched my face, and then she smiled.

“My sweet girl, you not sick. But you chose wisely when you decided not to leave here.” She tells me.

“I do not understand,” I say, confused.

“You are not sick, my child. You are going into heat. It has been some time now since you were marked, so it had to happen.” She explains, and I am a little shocked. I had not thought of this at all.

“Heat? Already.” I whisper, and Liv nods her head.

“Yes, sweetheart. I trust you know what will be the only thing that can help you.” She says, and I nod my head blushing.

“Yes, but.” I start, but she stops me.

“No, but sweetheart. I mindlinked Noah, and he will be here soon. He can help you feel better, and I will ensure that you are not disturbed.” She says, and hugs me.

“I am not ready to be a mom,” I whisper.

“Just because you are in heat does not mean you will be pregnant. I can send Kendra to give you an injection that can prevent it. It is no shame to admit you are not ready.” She tells me softly and hugs me.

“No, it is not. And I already asked Kendra here.” Noah says from the door as he walks in.

“You not mad?” I ask, and he smiles.

“No, I am not mad. I am not ready to share you yet. Maybe in a year or maybe even in six months. But right now, I am happy for us to be us.” He tells me as he walks in and kisses me.

“Thank you, Mom.” He says, and Liv smiles.

“You welcome. I will make sure food is delivered and ready for you at all times outside your door.” She promises and leaves.
