After our quick dessert in the kitchen, we got dressed, and I brought her outside. I had made sure to let warriors on patrol, as well as Dad and Enzo, know.

We walked into the forest just behind the castle, and Madeleine undressed so she could shift. I shifted into Lucian, and then we started to run, and Lily bolted off between the trees. I feel bad they have not had much chance to do this, and I promised myself I would change that.

It was fun seeing Lily just enjoying being free for a little while, and after a while, I noticed how the ground where she ran began to change. Small flowers started showing, and the grass grew fast. Lucian and I watched, fascinated, as she had fun until she reached an old tree that was dying.

Unexpected, they shifted back into their human form, and a baked Madeleine looked at me and smiled.

“I have learned a lot, not only how to make everything look pretty. But also how to protect and help life around me.” She said, and it didn’t make much sense what she said.

She went over to the dead tree and put her forehead against it, and then she said some words. I looked around her and saw how the ground started changing. Then the tree started getting its natural color back, and fresh new branches grew. Leaves started growing, looking big and healthy, and the last small flowers formed between the leaves.

It was beautiful to see something I thought was dead get back to life, even if it was just a tree. I couldn’t take my eyes off Madeleine, and she had this small summer green glow around her. When she was satisfied that the tree was alive again, she stepped away and looked at me.

Lucian had let me get control, and I was now in my human form as well. I sniffed myself some hidden clothes and found a shirt. I handed it to Madeleine. She took it on so she wasn’t naked, and we sat down in the grass around the new tree.

“That was amazing,” I tell her and kisses her.

“I have learned a lot. Greta says the source of my power is a lot like hers. As a witch, for her, the best power is the one she can get from the nature. But my powers are not like a witch's, and my powers are the nature if that makes sense.” She tells me.

“And nature creates life,” I say and smile.

“Yes.” She says and smiles before she continues.

“But it’s more than just creating life. I can get the nature to fight for me. Use the breaches from the trees to protect and catch vines to capture and kill. The ground makes traps holes and makes trees fall. But I can also use the nature to save others if someone is badly hurt and dying. But it’s not without a price for the natural nature around us.” She finishes.

I don’t know what I should say, so I nod my head and kiss her forehead.
