Chapter 797 Chatting
After Tessa and Stefania took their seats, the servant served tea, then left in an understanding manner. Elegantly, the older lady took a sip as she asked, “When did you come back?”
“We arrived last night,” Tessa replied truthfully.
Stefania nodded, then turned her gaze on Tessa’s tummy. “Is the baby all right?”
“Quite well.”
“That’s good to hear.” Stefania nodded. She seemed to have run out of things to say, so she fell silent.
In an instant, the atmosphere turned a little awkward, and Gregory noticed it too. He glanced between them, saying curiously, “Mommy, Grandma, why have you stopped talking?”
Tessa also felt that nothing would come out of staying silent, so she tried to invite her for dinner. “Since you’re here, do join us for dinner later.”
“Of course I will. My son and grandson have been with someone else for so many days, so of course we should have a meal together.”
Stefania was seemingly still dissatisfied with Tessa as she spoke sarcastically. Fortunately, Tessa didn’t mind.
Even though her mother-in-law didn’t mince her words, she was still concerned about the baby. This was already a huge improvement.
At least she had acknowledged the existence of this child. Gregory was quite understanding, so he could see that his grandmother didn’t like his mother, and his dark eyes swirled in thought.
“Grandma, let me tell you something.” He put on a mysterious look as he neared Stefania.
Stefania cooperatively lowered her head and asked lovingly, “What do you want to tell me, Greg?”
“Grandma, do you know? I got fatter.”
With that, Gregory raised his chin stubbornly. He looked absolutely adorable.
Tessa and Stefania chuckled at his antics.
“Did you really? Why didn’t I feel anything when I hugged you just now?”
Tessa didn’t know what Stefania was thinking.
Noticing that it was about time, she got up and said, “Greg, play with Grandma for a while. I’ll go make dinner.”
“You’re cooking tonight, Mommy? Awesome! I can taste Mommy’s cooking again.”
Gregory was overjoyed. Tessa smiled, then gave Stefania a nod before walking toward the kitchen. Of course, she wasn’t trying to prove herself in front of Stefania. She just wanted to make some good food to provide Nicholas with nourishment, and also to prepare the dishes her brother loved.
When she went into the kitchen, Andrew was there working on the menu for the night. He was surprised to see Tessa.
“Miss Tessa, why are you here?”
“I’m here to make dinner,” Tessa smiled as she replied. Then, she remembered something. “Oh, right, Andrew, do you know anything my parents-in-law don’t eat? Also, what dishes do they like to eat?”
“Mrs. Sawyer doesn’t like coriander, garlic, and the like.”
Andrew didn’t hide anything as he told Tessa everything he knew.
