Stunned for a moment, Sophia raised her head to look at the owner of the hand. Charles' hand was cushioning her head, whereas his head had crashed into the front seat. A huge red patch had formed on his forehead, and it looked extremely obvious. He seemed to have hit his head quite hard.

"I was just holding onto the seat for support so that I won’t get hit. I wasn’t trying to protect you. Don't think too much." Charles slanted his head and glanced at her before retracting his hands. He closed up his palms slightly, touching and twisting his fingertips a little. He could still vaguely feel her warmth.

In the front row, Clara was currently pointing at Zachary with another hand on her hips as she complained about his horrifying driving skills. The latter pointed at the car ahead and explained to her helplessly.

No one noticed the strange interaction between the two in the back row.

Even if Charles had not said those words, Sophia would not think too much about it either. She retracted her gaze and fell silent.

Charles was looking in front nonchalantly, but his back was straight. After receiving just a faint reply from her, his brows furrowed slightly. He leaned back in the seat. He felt somewhat irritable inside for some reason.

The crash ahead was not a very serious one. Several car owners quickly negotiated in private and the traffic started moving again in no time.

At first, Clara was still ranting to Zachary about the things that some of her clients had done. Later, she lowered her head and started using her mobile phone and stopped talking altogether. The car fell silent immediately.

The silence made the already stifling atmosphere even more stifling now.

Sophia's body was glued to the car window. She was feeling uncomfortable both inside and outside. Every passing second felt like a year. When her neck was sore from prolonged twisting, the car finally came to a standstill.

She stretched her hand to the back of her neck and kneaded it, catching a glimpse of a food street ahead as she did so.

"There are several good restaurants on this street. Spicy crayfish, grilled fish, Sichuan restaurants, Japanese food, and a noodle restaurant. Which one do you want?" Zachary turned to ask Clara, his eyes full of pampering.

Clara's saliva was flowing out, her eyes sparkling. "Can we eat them all?"

Zachary flicked her forehead and turned to ask Sophia, "Since I’m buying Ms. White this meal as an apology, Ms. White should be the one to choose, then."

"Spicy crayfish." The light in the car was switched off. Sophia’s gaze swept across Charles' injured leg out of the corner of her eye. She curled her lips in the dimly-lit space, picking the restaurant that was least suitable for a patient.

Zachary snorted and darted a teasing glance at the two in the back. After he was done parking the car, Zachary led them into the restaurant.

The evening lights had just lit up but the nightlife had not begun, so there were not many people on the food street.

After they entered the restaurant, the restaurant owner regretfully informed them that all private rooms were full. They could only dine in the public dining area if they did not want to wait.

As Clara was impatient, she answered straight away, pointing to a four-seater in the middle of the concourse. "Let’s sit there!"

Sophia was used to eating in a private room or in a corner. After seeing the direction where she was pointing at, she pursed her lips but did not say anything.

"It’s uncomfortable to eat in the middle. We’ll take the seat in the southeast corner." Charles glanced at her and made a beeline for the six-seater table in the southeast corner.

Zachary did not really care as he followed behind him and walked over straight away.

Clara stomped her feet with anger, harrumphing twice before following Sophia reluctantly to take a seat.

"Charles told me in the past that Ms. White likes spicy crayfish. I was still quite doubtful then." When ordering, Zachary smiled and said, "It turns out that it’s true."

Sophia paused for a moment, glanced at Charles subconsciously, and retracted her gaze. She lowered her head and continued to study the menu without a word.
