Charles lowered his eyes. Huge waves were surging in the depth of his eyes.

"Your dad also said that you’re not young anymore and that you should marry Leah as soon as possible. What were you thinking?" Apart from her pinkish eyes, Yvette looked the same as usual.

Charles raised his eyes and glanced at her, coolness seeping into his voice. "I will make my own decisions. It’s not up to him to tell me what to do. If Dad calls you again to rush you, ask him to call me and I will talk to him myself."

He paused for a moment and said sarcastically, "As for the divorce, do you think he can make the decision alone?"

His words cracked Yvette up. "He certainly can. It just depends on whether he is willing to give up the Harris family’s inheritance for Aunt Lewis."

The Harris family had been managing business for generations, while the Cox family was a military-political family. No one could say for sure which one of them had profited at another’s expense. Both were benefited in some way.

If her husband wanted to divorce her because of Lew, then he would only be flushing the Harris family’s reputation down the drain, losing all benefits the Harris family could offer him. When that happened, Master Harris would be the first to come forward to oppose it.

He would be dreaming if he still wanted the Harris family's assets after upsetting Master Harris.

"If he’s willing, then he wouldn’t have squandered all his time on you until now." Mockery was evident on Charles’ face.

There was a flash of loneliness in Yvette's eyes. She said with a smile, "Okay, enough about me." She slackened the curves that were hanging on her lips and asked sternly, "I heard that you threw Soph out naked?"

"I'm a little tired." Charles frowned, got up, and walked toward the spiral staircase.

Yvette stood up, stared at his back, and said, "Charles, I don’t know what happened between you and Soph, but she will lose all her dignity if you throw her out naked like that. Aren’t you afraid that you will regret it in the future?"

"I won’t feel sorry for a betrayer," Charles turned around and enunciated every single word.

Yvette was stunned for a moment before saying, "How could Soph possibly betray you when she likes you so much?"

"Why did Dad marry you when he likes Aunt Lewis so much? Why does he have so many women out there?" Charles' dark eyes were surging with intense emotions. His countenance remained the same, but the veins on his neck had bulged out, making him look slightly ferocious.

Silence.

When Charles turned around and was prepared to leave, Yvette called out to him, "If anything, Charles, it's best that you ask her in person so as to not create any misunderstanding and cause unnecessary regret."

"It's getting late. Rest early, Mom." Charles walked up the spiral staircase, leaving her with his lonely back view.

The cab pulled over in front of the city hall bus stop. Clara jumped out of the car. "I’m leaving now, goodbye!"

"Goodbye," Sophia responded mildly, turning her head to look out the window.

An impressive-looking middle-aged man was standing in front of the city hall. Clara ran to him with delight, then wrapped her arms around his elbow affectionately and said something to him. After that, the two walked toward the city hall together.

It was obvious that both father and daughter shared a very close relationship.

There was a touch of envy in Sophia's eyes. She used to share the same relationship with her father, but... She let out a self-deprecating smile and said to the driver, "Let's go, Mister."

Ten minutes later, the cab pulled over at Dream Club’s entrance. Sophia paid the fare and got out of the car.

Toward the north of Dream Club’s entrance, a man and a woman were arguing about something whilst tugging at each other. This was not exactly uncommon. Sophia had no plans to bother herself with it and made a beeline for Dream Club’s entrance.

Though when she moved nearer to the two, she suddenly heard the man saying, "Meggie, I know I was wrong. I’ve completely broken up with her! Let's get back together, okay?"
