“I heard Master Lewis is marrying a woman one or two years younger than Leah. Oh my, I’d never expected Master Lewis to still be that active when he is up there in years!”

“How would Mr. Jones refer to Miss Tiffany Lawrence after the wedding today? Grandma? How would anyone be able to refer to someone a few years younger than them as grandma?”

“Master Lewis is indeed a man of literature. His ways are different from us commoners! Well done, well done!”

“Mr. Lewis, marriage is a good thing. Why are you putting up such an unhappy look on your face?”

“Mrs. Jones, let me just say that you shouldn’t feel unhappy. You should focus on getting Master Lewis some kidney supplements. If something were to happen to his health while on his nightly duties, it would end up becoming a joke.”

The more she listened to these comments, the worse Mrs. Jones’ face looked. She finally could not take it and glared angrily as she rushed towards the guest dripping with sarcastic words, roaring, “Careful with those words coming out from your mouth. Don’t think I have no idea what’s going on with the Johnson family!”

“Mum…” Leah Jones turned her wheelchair around to get in front of her mum, gently pulling her as she called out.

However, Mrs. Jones was so angry, she pushed her daughter to the side and raised her voice higher, “You’re just an illegitimate child from the Johnson family, what’s there to be so proud about?!”

Leah Jones frowned subtly and rubbed gently between her eyebrows. A look of fatigue and disgust flashed across her eyes.

An embarrassed look crossed Shawn Johnson’s face when he heard this, and a look of viciousness appeared in his cunning eyes. “The old man is getting up there with age, and he’s still capable of seducing a woman younger than his granddaughter. As for his daughter, well, getting scandalous with another man at an age when she’s supposed to take care of her own family. Looks like nothing good comes out from this family!!!”

Mrs. Jones ignored Leah Jones’ attempt to pull her back and roared with a bright, red face amidst the sarcastic and demeaning looks of the guests, “What nonsense are you spouting?! Nothing is going on between me and Alan Harris, stop your malicious words!”

Alan Harris was the name of Mr. Harris.

“Why are you acting so nervous if I hadn’t struck a nerve? Aren’t you thick-skinned to pretend you’re innocent when you’ve been a slut!” Shawn Johnson sneered as he insulted her.

The guests seated in the main hall looked toward the entrance, whispering amongst themselves in different groups.

The smile stiffened on Leah Jones’ face. She tried her best to repress the anger within her, but lips refused to give a wider smile. “Mum, you should head in first.”

“I…” Mrs. Jones looked enraged.

She had just begun to say something when she was interrupted by Leah Jones’ unhappy face. “You’re not feeling well. Just get in there to have a rest. Don’t exhaust yourself.”

“Well, now the old and the young are all capable enough to order me around!” Mrs. Jones complained with a livid expression as she continued grumbling away while entering the main hall.

Leah Jones took a deep breath and smiled at Shawn Johnson. “My mum has always been one to say what is on her mind. Please don’t take it to heart, Mr. Johnson.”

“I’ll relent on your behalf since you’ve already spoken up, Leah,” Shawn Johnson’s gaze was stuck on her as he looked her up and down.

Leah Jones replied in a gentle voice, as if she had not noticed his lecherous gaze, “Thank you for your understanding, Mr. Johnson. Although, you’ve insulted my mother and grandfather in front of so many guests today. What should we do about that?”

Shawn Johnson tutted and narrowed his eyes as he said condescendingly, “Master Lewis is marrying a twenty-year-old lady from the club and it’s because he got her pregnant. Isn’t that considered a disrespectful act for a man his age?”

“As for your mother, heh, who doesn’t damn well know what’s going on between her and that gentleman from the Harris family? If you don’t believe me, just grab one or two people from any seat in there and ask if they are aware of it!”
