The financial director looked at Charles with beads of sweat around her forehead and her face as pale as a sheet of white paper. She looked as if she was about to faint at any second.

“Mr. Logan, there’s no need for you to stay and help Mr. Harris,” Justin said as he smiled with his eyes narrowed in a sly manner. “The law will naturally determine whether Mr. Harris has committed a crime. I have faith in the law that it will exonerate an innocent man but not if he’s guilty.”

His tone hardened when he said the last word.

A police officer stepped forward and said, “Here’s what happened. We received a report saying that Mr. Harris is suspected of tampering with the company’s accounts for personal gain so we just came over for a routine investigation, there’s nothing to be worried about.”

“I have always done things right so I don’t have anything to hide,” Charles said, “Go ahead, be my guest.”

The head police officer nodded and called his subordinates to help move the account books to a separate office in the corner where the auditors from the police authorities went on to go through the accounts.

Mr. Logan seemed to be hesitating to speak as he saw the officers moving around the office, but there was a sneering look in his eyes at the same time.

“They probably didn’t get to have lunch earlier this afternoon. Mr. Logan, can you order some food for the police officers and our friends from the accounting department,” Charles offered.

Mr. Logan’s mouth opened several times as if he wanted to say something but in the end, he merely sighed and left to order some food.

At the same time, the financial officer wiped away the sweat all over her face and excused herself to leave as well.

“Wait a minute,” Charles called out with a faint smile on his face. “Director York, the police most probably need your cooperation. You’re excused from your work for the next two days and have someone take over your workload, your priority now is to cooperate with the police and give them whatever they need.”

Director York mumbled a vague reply. Sweat continued running down her face like raindrops, and when she spoke, her voice was trembling. “Mr. Harris, is there anything else I can do for you?”

“I’m not the president anymore, you can ask Justin if there’s anything else that he needs,” Charles said.

A sinister look flashed across Justin’s eyes for a brief moment. “Since Mr. Harris has already arranged everything, what else can I say? Director York, do your part and cooperate with the police, don’t let one measly rotten apple spoil our entire barrel here in Harris Group.”

Charles’s facial expression remained indifferent as if he did not notice the underlying meaning in Justin’s words.

“Yes… Alright.” Director York forced a tight smile and stole a quick side glance at Charles before turning her gaze away. Then, she quickly turned around and left.

The president’s office was instantly empty.

“Ms. White, long time no see,” Justin said with a smile as he stretched his hand out to Sophia.

Sophia glanced at his hand but before she could react, Charles moved before her and grabbed Justin’s hand. “Justin, you must have been overworking yourself so much nowadays that your memory is slipping. You just met her two days ago.”

His grip was strong, strategically putting pressure between Justin’s thumb and index finger.

The smile on Justin’s face stiffened as he resisted the pain that shot up his hand. He wriggled his hand slightly before finally withdrawing his hand. “Mr. Harris, it seems like you really like Ms. White. I just wanted to shake her hand and you can’t even handle the jealousy.”

“That’s right,” Charles replied calmly, “The next time you see my woman, you should just stay far away otherwise I wouldn’t know what I might do.”

Charles rubbed his hand that was aching in pain. “You must be joking, Mr. Harris. Ms. White is pregnant with the flesh and blood of the Harris Family, she’s bound to marry into the Harris Family one day. By then, I’ll see her everywhere I go so how can I stay away from her?”

“You know what I mean.” Charles’s eyes were as cold as ice.
