After giving Sophia acupuncture treatment, he opened a drawer, took out some shopping bags, and handed them to Sophia.

"What is this?" Sophia asked.

Victor gestured to her to open it.

Sophia opened it and saw a few pieces of baby’s clothing and some children's toys inside.

"These are from Aunt Lucy and my mom. They reminded me over and over again to give these to you." Victor put his hand in his doctor’s coat pocket and stared at her with a faint smile on his face.

Sophia felt even more conflicted now. Aunt Lucy and Madam Davis cared a lot about her. What was she supposed to tell them later? She had no idea if they would hold a grudge with her because of this either.

Just as these messy thoughts were running through her mind, Charles grabbed the things from her hands. "Thank you, Dr. Hemingway, but I have prepared for things already."

"It doesn’t hurt to have a few more." Victor did not take it. "If you insist on rejecting them, Ms. White, then please return these things to Aunt Lucy and my mother yourself or they will nag me to death."

Sophia chuckled. "These clothes look pretty good. Please convey my thanks to Aunt Lucy and Madam Hemingway. I like them very much."

"You’re too polite. If you want to thank them, then do take the time to come over and visit sometime. Aunt Lucy has been talking about you all day long," Victor said.

There were several times when Sophia tried to bring up the subject about Madam Davis during their conversation, but when the words reached the tip of her tongue, she realized that she did not know how to start.

From the moment she chose to go to work, she knew that Leah would find out about her fake pregnancy. She had thought of a way out for herself but had not thought of one for Madam Davis.

Standing next to her, Charles watched as the two chatted happily, feeling like an outsider. He put the shopping bags on the bed and said all of a sudden, "Oh, I suddenly remembered something. This has something to do with you, Dr. Hemingway."

"Something to do with me?" Victor asked.

Charles raised his eyebrows slightly. "Well, strictly speaking, this isn’t exactly related to you, Dr. Hemingway. I just want to say that my grandfather has found out that Madam Davis falsified the pregnancy test."

"!" The smile on Victor’s face vanished at once. "Please excuse me for I still have things to handle. I will get someone to remove the needles from you in a while."

Sophia wanted to say something but he had already left.

“Do you feel guilty?" Charles lowered his eyes to look at her.

As he had guessed her thoughts too many times now, Sophia was not exactly surprised anymore. She nodded. "I got Madam Davis in trouble."

"Why do you think she helped you?" Seeing that a lock of her hair had come loose, Charles tucked it behind her ear naturally.

Sophia raised her head and peered into his eyes.

"Madam Davis wouldn’t take such a huge risk to help you simply because Aunt Lucy dotes on you." Charles paused and said, "I promised her something."

Sophia lowered her eyes after hearing what he said and clenched her fists. "Mm."

It was probably better this way as she did not need to feel like she owed anyone a favor.

For some reason, however, she still felt somewhat uneasy. Perhaps this was the reason why humans did not want to grow up. Everything was just so realistic that it was terrifying.

There was no right or wrong. Everyone simply had a different thought in mind, that was all.

After the age of forty, Master Harris hardly ever acted on impulse anymore. Before he did something, he would first consider the pros and cons of his actions before deciding whether to do it or not.

After he was set up by multiple juniors this time, however, Master Harris was unable to stomach this insult, hence he led several men to Jones Group not long after Charles and Sophia had left.

"Mr. Harris?" When the receptionist saw this illustrious big shot for the first time, she was both sensitive and afraid.
