Ms. Florence’s eyes lit up as she walked straight up to him. “Dr. Hemingway, you’re back! I think something is still wrong with my leg.”

“Ms. Florence, isn’t this your fifth appointment this month?” The usual smile on Dr. Hemingway’s face was tucked away and he looked dead serious.

Seeing him like this, Ms. Florence lowered her head and answered dully, “Yeah.”

“I told you this before. You only sprained your leg, there shouldn’t be anything serious. If you have recovered now, you should stop coming to the hospital.” Dr. Hemingway unloaded everything he was carrying on the table and poured himself a glass of water.

Ms. Florence took a step forward and looked at Sophia before saying, “Dr. Hemingway, why aren’t I allowed to see you but this lady is?”

Then, she continued in a sour tone. “Her leg seems fine, it doesn’t look like it needs any treatment. Is it because you like her…”

“Ms. Florence!” Victor interrupted her mid-sentence as a frown crept upon his face. “I don’t think I owe you an explanation about each and every one of my patients, do I?”

Seeing that she had pissed him off, Ms. Florence was slightly scared. “Don’t be angry, I was just talking nonsense. Why are you so aggravated?”

“Let me repeat this again, the hospital is not a place to court men and seek romance. I’m sorry, but those novels and television dramas are very misleading. You’re wasting medical resources by making pointless appointments like this!” Victor was quite disgusted with these girls who came to the hospital and messed around for their so-called pursuit of ‘love’.

Ms. Florence had never been criticized in this manner before. She could not conceal her emotions, and her eyes were already bright red.

Without even looking at her, Victor said to the nurse, “Fields, see her off! Next time, don’t let just anyone come into my office, do you understand?”

The nurse quickly nodded and muttered a vague response before turning to Ms. Florence, “Ms. Florence, please…”

“You don’t have to chase me out, I can leave just fine by myself!” With her eyes red and swollen, Ms. Florence cried out before leaving the room.

The nurse stared into the air awkwardly, unsure of what to do. Should she stand in the corner, take a seat, or chase after the distressed Ms. Florence?

“Please get me my needles,” Victor took another sip of his water and ordered the nurse.

The nurse nodded and quickly set off to fetch him his needles.

“I’m sorry you had to witness that.” Victor took a disposable paper cup and poured Sophia and Nicole a cup of water each. “Ms. Florence is a young lady, so she doesn’t think before she speaks sometimes. Please don’t take her words to heart, Ms. White.”

Sophia nodded. “It’s normal for a girl to dream about love. After all, you’re an outstanding doctor, Dr. Hemingway. It’s no surprise that she admires you very much.”

“So you think that I’m outstanding, Ms. White?” Victor smiled amusingly. “Well then, if Mr. Harris wasn’t in the picture, would you consider me to be your boyfriend?”

Sophia paused slightly as she wrapped her hands around her cup. She hesitated for a moment, but just as she was about to answer his question, he spoke once again.

“I’m just asking for fun, you don’t have to take it so seriously, Ms. White.” Victor lowered his eyes and hid his expression from her. “How has your leg been feeling recently?”

With that, Sophia did not dwell on the joke either. “It’s alright,” she replied curtly.

“Has it been sore or swollen?” Victor knelt on one knee as he proceeded to press on several parts of her leg.

“Nope.” Sophia shook her head.

“Alright then.” Victor got back up and dusted his pants as he said to the nurse, “Get Ms. White a pair of pants please.”
