As she watched what was happening before her, Sophia would have thought that those bodyguards were incredibly loyal if it was not for the fact that she knew the inside story.

In reality, these people were sent to watch her and Charles.

“Put him down!” Justin yelled at the bodyguards. He was fuming with rage, yet nobody paid any attention to him as they continued dragging Ted into the elevator.

The entire floor went silent.

After a while, Justin’s expression eased up slightly, though there was still a hint of annoyance. “Charles, what’s the meaning of this? Grandfather has just passed away and you’re already killing your way to the top? What do you think Grandfather would think of this?”

His tone hardened when he said ‘killing your way to the top’. He was clearly directing it at Oscar and the rest of them that if Charles was daring enough to touch their grandfather’s third wife’s side of the family, he would certainly be brave enough to go up against those of the first wife!

Oscar was deep in thought as he turned to Luna and Lena. The three of them discussed among themselves softly and at the end, none of them said anything.

“You loved to use Grandfather against me when he was alive, and you still continue to do so after he passed away,” Charles said in amusement as he raised a brow.

Growing up, Justin had had a better life than him only because Justin was pampered by their grandfather.

Justin’s expression stiffened, and when he looked back at Charles, he did not seem as confident as he was before.

Whether it was at work or at home, he was never as capable as Charles. He could never win the hearts of the people nor did he had influence over everyone else. If he were to go up against Charles right now, he certainly did not stand a chance.

“Keep in mind, I don’t like being threatened. Got it?” Charles casually said as he turned around to pull Sophia’s coat tighter around her.

Justin curled his fists and bit his lips hard. “Charles, you misunderstood what I said. I had no intention of threatening you, I was just worried that you might ruin your reputation and wanted to give you a heads up.”

“Everyone is capable of insincere words, I’m sure you know well what you meant, you don’t have to play word games with me. Did you hear what I said? I don’t want to ever hear you threaten me again, got it?” Charles kept his tone light and casual, but at the same time, there was a sense of oppressiveness to it.

Everyone immediately turned to Justin.

Justin felt almost suffocated by their heavy stares and he had the urge to just run away.

It would be embarrassing for him to respond to Charles’ question but he knew he had no other choice. “Got it.”

“You’re too soft, I can’t hear you,” Charles said.

Justin’s face was as red as fresh blood at this point. He tightened his fists and his mouth opened slightly several times before the words came out, slightly louder this time too. “Got it!”

He would never forget the humiliation Charles made him feel today!

Charles finally nodded his head in satisfaction. “Alright then, I’m sure you won’t repeat the same mistake now that you remember my words.”

Justin was clenching his fists so tight that his knuckles had turned white. He nodded his head silently, not daring to speak another word.

He knew well that if he upset Charles right then, he would be thrown out by the bodyguards just like his father. Then, he would not be able to look anyone in the eye anymore!

Seeing the consequences of provoking Charles, nobody dared to try anything anymore and kept quiet. The younger ones tried their best to fawn on him but the elder ones were worried about something else.

“Charles, now that your grandfather is gone, you’re the backbone of the family now. You see… News of Harris Corporation being involved in human experiments are out now and word on the street is that the Harris family is done for, do you have any idea how to deal with this?” Oscar asked.
