Chapter 439 Check The Surveillance Footage novel Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!
Since Charles had already made up his mind, Yvette knew that it was no point trying to stop him. Instead, she said, “As long as you don’t regret it, I won’t interfere. Even if you do regret this in time, nobody can help you anymore.”
“I will bear the consequences that come with the decisions I make.” Charles looked out of the window casually as he said and happened to cross his gaze with a stranger outside.
The person was stunned for a moment before he hurried away as if he had been caught red-handed for peeping.
Charles did not bother to go out and check if the person was still around. He merely frowned as he made another call. “There’s someone outside my room watching me, he’s a middle-aged man wearing a black coat. Check the surveillance footage and see what has he gone to.”
Ever since he found out that the five bodyguards he had hired for Sophia were arranged by someone else on purpose, he had secretly found himself another group of men.
However, these men were not just any ordinary bodyguards, they were contacted through the Cox family’s military contacts and they were a troop of mercenaries internationally known for their abilities.
They only saw money as their master, and this factor helped eliminate the possibility of them becoming spies.
Aside from the fact that they asked for a higher price, there were no shortcomings at all, and the one thing that Charles did not lack right now was money.
The man on the other end of the phone mumbled a response, and after making sure that there were no further orders, he ended the call and set off to his task.
Yvette was about to ask about the call when she saw him hanging up but Charles spoke first, “You don’t have to ask me anything. The less you know, the better.”
Yvette could not help but felt a little skeptical and worried upon hearing this, but she only sighed heavily and said nothing.
After ending the call, Charles sat back on the floor and stared at the ground.
The floor and ceiling, like everything else in the room, quickly morphed into Sophia’s face.
He never understood the feeling of missing someone. Even if Sophia stopped loving him one day, he would have threatened her to stay so he could still see her all the time.
Now, however… He would never be able to see her again no matter what he did.
The feeling of missing her was so intense it occupied his entire heart, and along with every heartbeat, he could barely breathe.
Knock knock knock!
There was a knock on the door.
Charles ignored the sound whereas Yvette hesitated slightly before deciding to ignore it.
“How can you still bother to knock at a time like this?” Madam Jones’ voice sounded from outside the room, and within seconds, the door was kicked open with a loud bang.
Madam Jones rushed into the room with a distraught-looking William, as well as several younger family members of the Lewis family who looked slightly embarrassed and disgusted.
“Mom——” William looked at Madam Jones with a troubled expression.
However, Madam Jones ignored him as she pointed at Charles angrily. “Charles, were you the one who had someone break my daughter’s limbs before throwing her in jail to have her wasted and destroyed?”
That was her daughter, for goodness sake! Although her daughter made a mistake some time ago and aggravated her, she never thought of punishing her daughter this badly or even die!
“I did it.”
If this was before, Charles would have spoken in an indirect manner, but now, he no longer had the mood to play games with anyone nor did he wanted to beat around the bush anymore.
