“What is it?”

Charles picked up the bottle and took another swig, only to realize that the bottle was already empty. He frowned and threw it to the ground.

Drunk? Was it that easy to get drunk?

Mr. Logan quickly replied, “I’m not sure what the Jones family told everyone but the Phillips, Sommer, and Johnson family are all on the Jones family’s side. They’re insisting to see you right now to talk about the Jones family going bankrupt.”

If it was not for the fact that all four of the families were reputable families in society and had ganged up against Harris Corporation, he would not have come over to see Mr. Harris in such a rush.

“No!” Charles replied without a single hesitation, “Just do as I say!”

He would make sure that the Jones family pay for what they did and regret everything they had done to Sophia!

“Mr. Harris…”

Mr. Logan was about to speak when Charles interrupted him. “End of discussion.”

“I would if I could, but the four families aren’t that easy to deal with now that they have teamed up against us. If you insist on driving the Jones family to bankruptcy, it would only put Harris Corporation at a disadvantage.”

Worried that he would be interrupted again, Mr. Logan spoke quickly, hoping that Mr. Harris would understand his concerns.

However——

“So what?” Charles snorted.

His reaction was the opposite of what Mr. Logan had expected. Mr. Logan froze for a moment, thinking that he had heard wrongly, and so he repeated what he said.

“If you insist on doing this, it might put Harris Corporation at a disadvantage. Moreover, Harris Corporation is still under investigation for involvement in human experiments. It’s a sensitive time now to be making enemies with others.”

Usually, Charles would contemplate his decisions if Mr. Logan expressed such concerns and try to come up with a better, well-rounded plan.

However, now that he had lost Sophia and their child, he did not care about anything anymore. “You don’t have to worry about all those, just do as I say.”

Seeing that he was already determined to do this, Mr. Logan knew that there was no point to argue anymore, and so he followed Charles’ orders anxiously.

Sterling, drunk as he was, was in between choked sobs and fits of laughter as he crouched on the ground. He was mumbling the entire time but Charles could not hear exactly what he was talking about.

Charles decided to ignore him and stood up to grab another bottle of whiskey from the table.

He did not feel drunk at all. In fact, he felt even soberer than usual. However, he could not help but stumble as he walked. He slowly staggered to the table and picked up another bottle of whiskey before returning to his seat across Sterling.

Perhaps it was because he was drinking with an empty stomach, the burning sensation in his stomach was even more intense than usual, but he still did not want to stop.

Charles’ eyes were hollow and empty as he raised the bottle and slowly chugged it down.

His stomach hurt incredibly bad.

Was this how miserable Sophia felt when he forced her to drink back then?

-

After feeding Sophia a bowl of porridge, Victor went out for a while before returning to the room. “Mr. White and Mr. Harris are being treated for alcohol poisoning after drinking too much.”

Every time he felt amazed at how affectionate Mr. Harris was toward Ms. White, the man always surprised him even more.

“How are they now?” Sophia’s eyes widened in shock and tried to sit up.

Charles had not been discharged after fainting the last time and had alcohol poisoning now? Her brother too?!

“The wounds on your body have torn open too many times and are now infected, you shouldn’t try to move around.” Victor came forward and carefully helped Sophia lay back on the bed.
