Chapter 459 Do I Need To Remind You Of Every Single One Of Them novel Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!
“... Charles!” The last thing Mr. Harris had expected after rushing all the way over was hearing these words. He did not know what to say right off the bat, and so he gritted his teeth and yelled.
Charles did not even spare him a glance. “You were already using your dirty mistresses as an excuse to sneak off your marital assets long ago, do I need to remind you of every single one of them?”
He had never brought this up with Yvette and she clearly had not thought about this. Hence, she was utterly stunned when she heard this.
Had he already started transferring their assets for such a long time now?
Mr. Harris was shocked as well. He had always been cautious and secretive when doing this, so how did Charles find out about it?
“It’s fine if you don’t want to sign the papers, you’ll just lose access to everything in your hands.” Charles did not bother to conceal any of Mr. Harris’ actions.
Although he sounded overbearing and arrogant, his boldness helped him pull it off.
Mr. Harris hesitated for a moment as he considered his options. Knowing that he could not possibly survive without spending a cent, he said, “Your mother and I lost feelings long ago, we’re bound to get a divorce anyway. I’ll have a look at the divorce papers and sign it if there’s nothing wrong with it.”
Charles merely looked at him coldly and did not say a thing. Then, he took out his phone and made a call. “Hurry up.”
With that, he hung up.
Mr. Harris had a troubled look on his face as he found himself a seat. He did not want to talk to Charles anymore because every conversation they ever had always ended with him filled with rage.
He turned around to Oscar, hoping that the man would help him put in a good word in front of Charles, but Oscar simply ignored him. When ignoring him did not prove effective, Oscar got up and found another seat far away because the man was too annoying.
Mr. Harris was extremely frustrated and annoyed, but he remained silent as he nudged closer to Ted. This brother was never on good terms with Charles, perhaps he could help him fight for more assets in the divorce.
However, Ted merely ignored him every time he tried to speak. Moreover, Ted kept giving him dirty looks too.
Mr. Harris was so frustrated but he forced himself to sit tight and wait for the person who was bringing the divorce papers to come over.
Soon after, a man dressed in a smart suit hurried into the room and went straight to Charles. “Mr. Harris, the divorce papers you asked for.”
“Give it to him.” Charles pointed at Mr. Harris.
The man grunted a quick response and turned around to pass the papers to Mr. Harris.
Mr. Harris accepted the papers and flipped through the document, but as his eyes skimmed through the terms, the frown on his face deepened. “Charles, should you at least explain to me why does your mother get 70% of the assets while I only get 30% of it?”
Everyone looked up when they heard his question, finally giving in and giving him the attention he had desperately craved earlier.
“What’s wrong about it?” Charles got up and slowly walked to Mr. Harris before coming to a stop before him and stared down at him. “If you don’t like the condition, pay back everything you transferred out in the past ten years and I’ll make sure that both of you split everything equally then.”
The money Mr. Harris had transferred out in recent years along with everything he had bought for his mistresses and illegitimate children were too much to even account for. If he had to take them all back…
Just as he contemplated, Charles said, “I’ll give you ten minutes to think about it.”
Then, he set a timer for ten minutes on his phone right in front of his father.
Ten minutes was not exactly a long time, and the alarm went off soon after.
“Are you going to sign the papers?” Charles was as indifferent as ever while he turned off the alarm.
Mr. Harris did not answer him, and instead, he frowned. “My expenses in these past few years are quite high, but I’m sure your mother doesn’t spend much lesser than me. You’re being…”
“It’s just a yes or no question. Do you want to sign the divorce papers? You don’t have to spout so much nonsense.” He was not in the mood to listen to his bullsh*t either.
