Sopha was still doubtful. She then asked Master Harris what had he done to ensure that her identity would not be revealed.
Despite how annoyed and frustrated Master Harris felt being questioned like this, seeing how she was the only one who could help him with this favor, he had no choice but to reluctantly explain the entire situation to her once again.
He had done all the possible preparations, and so Sophia only hesitated for a short moment before agreeing to his terms. Just like the last time, Master Harris had the nurse bring Sophia to see Charles.
However, this time around, Sophia waited outside his house for four solid hours, but Charles still refused to see her.
Mr. Logan, on the other hand, came out of the house and spoke to her out of courtesy. “I’m so sorry, Ms. Griffin, but Mr. Harris has been in a terrible mood lately and he doesn’t want to see anyone.”
Sophia and Master Harris had already expected Charles to find her distrusting, but they did not consider the scenario that he would not even see her.
She hesitated for a moment and asked, “Do you mind bringing me to see Mr. Harris’ mother or perhaps anybody else from the Harris family then? This is really an urgent matter.”
There was a glimmer in Mr. Logan’s eyes as he replied helplessly, “I’m sorry but Mr. Harris already gave orders and forbade me to bring you to see anyone else.”
“Alright, I understand. Sorry for troubling you.” Since Mr. Logan had already said it, there was no point for her to stay any longer. Sophia frowned and told the nurse it was time to return to the hospital.
If this did not work, perhaps… She could try and contact Aunt Harris. Charles might still listen to Aunt Harris if she talked to him.
However, as soon as this idea flashed through her mind, Mr. Logan called out to her from behind, “Ms. Griffin, please wait for a moment, there’s one more thing.”
“Ah?”
“Mr. Harris wants me to tell you that he doesn’t like people who pester him relentlessly. Please don’t try to contact any of the Harris family members or…,” Mr. Logan paused for a moment before continuing, “Well, this matter has nothing to do with you in the first place so it’s best if you don’t interfere.”
Although he did not finish his exact words, Sophia understood what he meant.
If she went against Charles’ orders, he would not let her go.
When Sophia left the hospital earlier, the sky was already dark and gloomy. Right now, it had begun to snow. A few flecks of snow fell on her eyelashes and quickly melted, and she felt herself getting cold.
“Alright, I understand.” Sophia swallowed down a gulp and her dry throat was slightly moistened. “I have done whatever I can to repay Ms. White’s kindness, I won’t intervene in this matter anymore.”
Then, she turned to her nurse. “Let’s go then.”
She could only go back and discuss with Master Harris what to do next.
The nurse mumbled a quick response and pushed Sophia away in her wheelchair.
Mr. Logan watched as the two got into the car and it was until the car disappeared from sight when he patted the snowflakes on his shoulder and let out a sigh. Then, he turned and returned to the house.
The living room still had empty bottles strewn all over the floor and the smell of alcohol was overwhelming.
Charles sat on the floor with a bottle of whiskey in hand as he kept taking swigs from the bottle, and because of how long he had not showered, his hair was unbelievably greasy.
He had always been quite a neat freak so it was hard to imagine that he would be acting like this right now.
“Is she gone?” Charles lowered the bottle of whiskey as he looked at Mr. Logan with an indifferent look on his face. The blood veins in his eyes were less prominent than a few days ago too.
Mr. Logan nodded quietly.
Charles scoffed lightly as disgust flashed across his face and he brought the bottle of whiskey to his mouth once again.
“Mr. Harris.” Mr. Logan hesitated slightly, but he could not take it anymore. “I think you might have misunderstood Ms. Griffin, she doesn’t look like someone who is approaching you with an ulterior motive. Do you really not want to see her and hear what she has to say?”
Charles continued drinking as if he had not heard what Mr. Logan just said.
