Sophia immediately dialed Charles’ number. On her first try, nobody answered the phone, and when she tried again, the phone was turned off.

She frowned. Did his phone run out of battery or… did something happen?

“What’s wrong? Please don’t tell me you don’t have anyone to reach out for help!” Seeing that the cars behind were closing in on them, the driver was not as relaxed as before.

Sophia replied, “Keep your eyes on the road, let me make another call.”

Sterling was stunned for a moment before he finally replied, “So… Soph?”

Before she could finish her sentence, Sterling anxiously interrupted her. “Mr. Zellner, I know you’re there! You better listen carefully, if you dare to even lay a finger on my sister, I will make sure your entire family pays for it!!!”

“Ster, I didn’t get captured by them. Megan saved me.” Sophia asked the driver for their car license plate and repeated it to Sterling, “Ster, we can barely hold on now, can you please get us help?”

There was no response.

“Ster?”

“Sh*t! Zellner scammed us! Charles is on the way over to see that sly old fox now!” Sterling said warily, “Alright, don’t panic, I’ll come to get you now and find a way to help Charles after. F*ck, I don’t even know where he’s heading to!”

Sophia felt her blood turn cold as her limbs went numb. “Charles… went to see Mr. Zellner alone?” she asked stiffly.

Sterling said nothing.

Seconds later, Sterling ended the call.

Sophia stared at her phone blankly as her throat tightened. She had already done everything she could to ensure that she would not become Charles’ burden, yet she still ended up dragging him down.

One thing she was certain though, was that Mr. Zellner was up to something, and if Charles went there all alone…

She did not even dare to think about it, and all the blood drained from her face instantly.

Just as she was still blanked out, two of the black Volkswagens suddenly caught up with them, one on each side, sandwiching them in the middle.

Megan tugged on the corner of her sleeves as she stared at the black Volkswagen outside. Her eyes were red now and her lips could not stop quivering.

Seeing how distraught she was, Sophia bit her lip and said softly, “Just stop the car, I can get down here.”

She could no longer escape anyway, so there was no need to burden anyone anymore.

The three of them remained quiet as they contemplated. Seeing the opposing enemy, Sophia certainly did not stand a chance if they let her down right then.

However, they would get into trouble as well if they continued helping her.

Just as they were still trying to make up their minds, someone crawled out of the window from the Volkswagen on their left and pounded on their car window.

Megan and the two men immediately began to shudder even more when they heard the thumps.

“Wind down the windows and tell them you’re stopping the car now,” Sophia said to the driver.
