Sophia restlessly took a taxi to the Harris residence. There were many people who came for Yvette Cox’s birthday banquet. When everyone saw Sophia, the whispers started.

"Didn't Sophia go to jail for attempted murder? Is she out now?”

"How did she get in here? The thought of a murderer around me makes my skin crawl.”

"She’s still the White family’s daughter. How can she come here dressed like that? This is unbelievable!”

Amid their comments and strange looks, Sophia casually walked to the corner of the banquet and sat down.

Initially, there was a man in a suit and leather shoes who sat there. However, when he saw her sitting down next to him, he frowned, got up, and left with a disgusted look on his face.

Sophia did not mind too much, and her gaze was fixated at the entrance. Her heart was feeling as if it was being pressed on by a boulder.

Charles was not there yet, so perhaps he was seriously injured.

He had always been severe about things. She did not want to think about how he would make her pay for this time’s accident.

"Miss White, Madam wants you over there," the servant said as she walked to her side.

Sophia nodded and followed the servant to Yvette's room on the second floor with the surprised and curious eyes of everyone around.

"Soph’s here." Yvette wore a long purple evening gown. She looked noble and elegant with light crow's feet at the corners of her eyes as she smiled.

Her gaze paused on Sophia's short, spotty hair and the scar on her forehead. However, her gaze quickly moved away before it crossed the line of being disrespectful.

She was on good terms with her, and even after two years, she still treated her the same. It was Sophia who was a little restrained.

She lowered her eyes and said respectfully, "I hope you’re doing well, Aunty Yvette."

"Why aren't you wishing me a happy eighteenth birthday this year? Didn’t you always wish me to get younger with each year?" Yvette teased.

Sophia pursed her lips and said nothing.

Her reputation after two years of experiences made it so that she would never treat Aunty Yvette as it was before anymore.

"Oh, our dear Soph has become much calmer.” Yvette touched her short hair, sighed, and changed the subject. "I’ve made a gown according to your size two years ago. I don't know if the dress will fit, but why don’t you go ahead and try it out?”

The servant held the nude pink evening gown and handed it to Sophia.

"It’s alright, Aunty Yvette. I’ll leave right after I see my mother. Thank you, though."

Sophia did not take the dress. She was already content that Aunty Yvette had allowed her to come over.

Everyone in their circle knew about her two-year jail sentence. If she stayed at the banquet, she would only embarrass Aunty Yvette.

Yvette took her hand and rebuked, "Today is my birthday. If you’re going to leave right after seeing your mother, that’s hardly justifiable!”

"But my reputation..." Sophia licked her dry lips, too embarrassed to continue on.

"What reputation?" Yvette interrupted her with a smile. "You’re my favorite girly…”

She did not give Sophia a chance to refuse. She turned her head and told the servant, "When Soph is done trying on the dress, you can get Wagner and the rest of them to come over to fix up Soph’s hair and makeup. Her makeup’s too light. It’ll basically be gone under the limelight later on.”

Sophia did not want to crash the birthday banquet. She also did not know how to face her parents or what to say to them. However, Yvette was one step ahead. “Soph, there are more guests today, so I’ll go and greet them first. If you need anything, just ask Aunty Zelda.”

After she said that, she left immediately.
