Atticus walked calmly into the building.
’He’ll probably refuse.’ He smiled as his gaze settled on his grandfather and father, locked in an intense fight.
The air inside the training room was filled with crackling lightning and searing fire. Flashes of red and blue ignited constantly around the room as they clashed, faster than most could follow.
But Atticus wasn’t most people. His eyes locked onto the man he had come for, and his mind worked.
’I’ll have to convince him.’
He knew his grandfather well, an honorable, proud man who wouldn’t accept handouts. Someone simply gifting him a power-up was unacceptable.
Atticus released his presence, and instantly, the clashes stopped. Fire and lightning burst in the space before him, and from them, Avalon and Magnus materialized.
Avalon’s grin stretched wide as he immediately pulled Atticus into a hug.
"You’re a god, son! I never thought I’d live to see the day my son literally rules the world. I’m proud of you."
Atticus returned the hug with a smile. "Thank you, Dad."
Avalon let go, and Magnus gave Atticus a firm nod. "Good job, Atticus. You’ve made us proud."
Atticus’s smile widened. ’He’s shy.’ Magnus probably would’ve hugged him too if they’d been alone. But with Avalon present, he held back.
Atticus bowed. "Thank you, Grandpa."
He might now be the god of Eldoralth, but that didn’t change one thing, he was still a servant to his family. He would always show them the respect they deserved.
"I came because I have something important to tell you."
As he rose from his bow, he turned to Magnus.
"Me?" Magnus looked intrigued. Just him? Not both of them?
"Well, it applies to Dad too, but not yet."
Now Avalon was interested as well. Both waited for him to continue.
After a moment, Atticus began narrating everything Whisker had told him about empowering the people. That he now had the power to restore the split cores into the full Eldorian core.
He noticed Magnus shaking his head before he even finished.
Atticus could already feel the man’s pride prickling at the idea of being "given" strength. Since childhood, Magnus had embodied everything his father was, down to that overwhelming sense of responsibility.
Atticus might now be all powerful, but Magnus still felt responsible for the family, including Atticus himself.
He believed he should be the one protecting them, not the other way around.
Still, it was a feeling Atticus understood. Magnus was stubborn.
’Good thing I expected this. I’d better change my approach,’ Atticus thought. Before Magnus could fully shake his head, Atticus spoke up quickly:
"This isn’t a handout."
Magnus paused, waiting.
"Listen, Grandpa. You remember the history, the fall of the Eldorians? Because the World Core was split, different races formed from one original race.
"In simple terms, we were all meant to be Eldorians. I’m not giving you a power boost. Think of it like I’m washing away a curse that’s plagued you since birth. This is how you were supposed to be born."
Magnus’s expression turned thoughtful, and Atticus decided to deliver the killing blow.
"Also, Grandpa... to be blunt, aside from me, my bonds, and Whisker, none of you can handle what’s coming. If you want to be involved, this is your chance."
That seemed to do the trick. Magnus slowly nodded. "Alright. I accept."
