Atticus sent a glance toward Avalon, who nodded seriously. He turned back to Magnus before raising his arm. Within seconds, the dwarven core formed and shot toward Magnus, merging with the cluster of cores at his center.

Magnus recoiled instantly, his entire body convulsing as thick brownish veins webbed across his skin.

His eyes ignited with blinding light. Pain surged through every fiber of his being, and light began pouring out of him like he’d become a vessel too full.

Gritting his teeth, Magnus clenched his fists, enduring the torrent as the light intensified, until suddenly, with a violent burst, a pillar of energy shot out of him and ripped through the roof of the training room, piercing straight into the sky.

Atticus smiled slightly. He had diverted the brunt of the force into the vertical blast, if he hadn’t, the entire hill would’ve been reduced to dust.

But the smile faded quickly.

’The world’s energy just dropped… and mine too.’

He tried refilling his energy, but nothing changed. He thought for a moment, then it clicked.

He looked younger now, his skin flawless and slightly pale with a whitish hue. His frame had grown broader, and even as he floated to his feet, Atticus could tell he had gotten taller.

’I’m still taller,’ Atticus reassured himself silently. Magnus was pushing 8 feet now, but hadn’t quite reached it.

His body brimmed with so much vitality that Atticus had no doubt, he would live for an incredibly long time.

’More than a thousand years.’

It was a staggering figure, especially considering the previous lifespans of even the strongest races. Human paragons topped out at 300 years. The others only marginally surpassed that. But the Eldorians had they were on another level entirely.

He could still remember how long Elderish had lived.

As Magnus opened his eyes, Atticus couldn’t help but smile.

His eyes had turned abyssal black, speckled with endless white dots, like the night sky itself lived in them.

"How do you feel, Grandpa?" Atticus asked. Avalon had stepped closer, quietly observing his father with intrigued.
