CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

LEWIS

She really does not have a lot of self-awareness,’ I could not help but think as I stared at the small figure beside me.

Lia intently looked at the direction where the car would be coming with a serious expression in her face. Subconsciously, she already blocked the teasing of the warriors and focused herself on the mission.

She is not really aware that I am teasing her on purpose and making herself believe that I have no interest in her.’ I thought to myself. She is really not aware that my eyes have not left her figure from the moment we arrived here. Lia repeatedly blinked as she saw that car approaching from afar. In her hands was my fruit juice that I have given her before. My eyes narrowed at the straw that she would occasionally sip from every now and then. ‘Hmmm. An indirect kiss, huh?’ The corners of my lips started tilting.

From the moment we arrived, I had already laid down my sense imprint in the area, so I was aware of all the movement in our surroundings. At that moment, around fifty werewolves arrived at the forest and quickly approached the lady’ car. Their movements were hidden by a spell.

The mirth in my eyes slowly faded as solemnity engulfed my whole body. An assassination attempt to the life of the lady a matter that must be treated with absolute seriousness. ‘Strange, these auras…they belonged to the Silver Wolves’ Pack?’ I could not help but furrow my brows.

The Silver Wolves Pack is a pack located near Northern Atlanta. Though they possessed some abilities, they did not possess the power to successfully overpower Halen and the Lady. It only took a couple of seconds before the members of the Silver Wolves arrived at the road and blocked the lady’s car. I raised a finger to signal my warriors to halt any movement and observe the situation first.

At that moment, the entourage of the royal warriors already surrounded Halen with their protective stance, ready to charge against the enemy. “No, get away from Halen!” Lady Regina hurriedly ordered, startling everyone except the alpha of the Silver Wolves who started to maniacally laugh before saying, “He said that this will bring the evil in you. The lord did not lie.”

On the other hand, Halen looked at the ground before suddenly crouching. He seemed to be suffering pain as he attempted to control the raging energy inside of him. Unfortunately, just a couple of seconds later, an inexplicably tyrannical aura started to appear. “So, this is what happened. No wonder… the lady ended up dying…” I commented before lifting my hand towards Lia. Immediately, black aura surrounded her, making her invisible and unapproachable. “The prince has lost control of his power. I will head over there to help. All of you are to stay here to protect your Luna,” I issued an order before meeting Lia’s eyes.

Halen’s uncontrolled power was enough to destroy the whole lower realm, so to protect Lia, I used my power to seal her. Unfortunately, although the barrier was the strongest one in land, it effectively cut Lia off from the outside world. It meant to protect her from anything. But at that moment, she could not see, hear, or feel anything that was happening around her. Despite that, Lia’s eyes were devoid of fear. Our mental connection was severed the moment I put the barrier up. But at that moment, the expression on her face clearly showed confidence and trust towards me. “Ah,” I softly exclaimed, speechless. And for a moment, I completely forgot about Halen who was on the verge of destroying everyone.
