You know the truth when it’s staring you right in the fucking face. You just don’t always want to accept it. 

That’s what’s happening right now. 

The entire goddamn crowd is still screaming, completely oblivious to what the Alpha just whispered in my ear. To them, this is nothing more than another bloodsport, a mindless spectacle of dominance and carnage. They don’t realize what’s standing in that ring, stretching its monstrous frame, shaking off the remnants of a man they thought they could break. 

But I do. 

I heard it. 

I fucking know. 

Enoch isn’t just some rogue. He isn’t just some injured man who stumbled into my life like a stray dog. No, that would be too easy. Too simple. 

The truth has been right in front of me this whole time, and I–like the dumbass I am–ignored it. 

The book he always carried, its pages worn thin from his hands flipping through them over and over again. 

His sheer strength, unnatural even for a Lycan. 

The 

way he carries himself, even when he doesn’t remember who the hell he is. The signs were there. They were always there. And now, with his bones snapping back into place, his body shifting into something monstrous–larger than Kallias, larger than anything I’ve ever seen–I can’t deny it anymore. 

Enoch isn’t just anyone. He’s the Alpha King. 

And whether I like it or not, whether he knows it or not–this changes everything. 

A bone–deep growl rumbles through the air, shaking me back to my very immediate, very fucked–up reality. Enoch’s entire form is trembling, his breathing ragged, his eyes locked onto me. His fury is a tangible thing, thickening the air, curling a vice around my lungs. Because he sees what’s happening. 

He sees the blade pressed against my throat. 

My fingers tighten around the Alpha’s forearm, nails digging into his skin as the cold bite of a blade presses harder against my throat. 

“Fucking hell,” I rasp, my breath coming in sharp gasps. “Are you seriously holding a knife to me right now?” 

The Alpha doesn’t answer, but his grip tightens. The bastard is watching Enoch as though he just saw a ghost rise from the dead. 

Which, honestly, he kind of did. Enoch’s growl rumbles through the arena, deep and primal. It’s not just a sound–it’s a fucking warning. The kind that sends every instinct in my body screaming at me to run. 

If only I could. 

The crowd is still too caught up in their confusion, their awe, their absolute fear. They don’t know what they’re looking at. 

But I do. 

Enoch. The missing Alpha King. A fucking god among men.

Chapter 36 

And he’s pissed. 

“Fight,” the Alpha barks at Enoch, tone gravel scraping against steel. “Or I slit her throat.” 

I freeze. 

Fuck. 

Enoch moves. 

Enoch’s eyes flick from me to the old bastard holding me hostage. He doesn’t move, but his claws flex against the ground, his muscles coiling like a loaded spring. He doesn’t speak–not fully–but his body does. 

He’s going to rip this man apart. 

But then- 

The Alpha shoves the blade harder against my throat. Not enough to slice, but enough for me to feel the bite of it. Enough for a sharp sting to flare through my skin. 

“Fucking fight,” the Alpha snarls. 

Enoch moves. 

And the world erupts. 

There’s no hesitation, no second of contemplation–he lunges, faster than I can track, a blur of muscle and violence. Kallias shifts before I can even register what’s happening, but it doesn’t matter. He’s fast–Enoch is faster. 

They collide with a sickening crack. 

The crowd roars, feeding off the carnage like starved animals. 

Kallias shifts fully, his massive wolf form bristling with rage, but Enoch is already moving again. He’s not just attacking–he’s dismantling. His claws tear through fur and flesh, fangs snapping down on Kallias’s throat, missing the kill spot by a hair as Kallias thrashes beneath him. 

They slam into the stone walls, cracking them. Kallias shoves off, snapping his jaws around Enoch’s side, trying to rip a chunk from him–but Enoch twists at the last second, his own teeth sinking into Kallias’s shoulder instead, tearing through muscle like it’s paper. 

The scent of blood is thick, coating my tongue. 

I should look away. I should be horrified. 

But I’m not. 

Because Kallias deserves this–maybe a bit. 

The asshole who treated me like dirt. Who let Seraphina torment me. Who only cared when he realized I was slipping through his fingers. 

And now, he’s slipping. 

Fast. 

I twist against the Alpha’s grip, barely able to breathe as I watch Kallias scramble to his feet. His fur is already matted with blood, his breathing labored, but he’s too fucking stubborn to give up.

Idiot 

He lunges again, but this time Enoch lets him come. 

Lets him think he has a chance. 

And then, just as Kallias closes in, Enoch moves. 

His massive jaws snap down onto Kallias’s shoulder, sinking into flesh, into bone, and a sickening crack fills the wif 

Kallias screams. 

It’s not a sound an Alpha–to–be should ever make. It’s pain. It’s fear. And it’s pathetic. 

The crowd knows it. I know it. 

Kallias is losing. He’s dying. 

I turn to the Alpha. “He’s going to die.” 

The old man doesn’t even flinch. “Good.” 

I blink. “Are you–are you insane? That’s your son.” 

His sickly smile doesn’t waver. “Sacrifice must be made for the truth to come out.” 

Jesus Christ. “What the actual fuck is wrong with you?” I hiss. “That’s your son- 

I stare at him, fully convinced this old bastard has completely lost it. But before I can snap at him, a blur of movement shoots into the ring, a massive body shifting midair, fur exploding from skin- 

Gamma Abel. 

He collides into Enoch, knocking him off Kallias at the last possible second. Enoch slams into the ground, snarling as he scrambles to his feet, but Gamma Abel is already moving. He grabs Kallias–barely conscious, his wolf form limp–und yanks him out of the arena, disappearing into the tunnels beneath the coliseum. 

The crowd is screaming and chaos erupting. 

Enoch stands in the center of it all, blood dripping from his fangs, chest heaving, eyes burning with something forall. something uncontrollable. 

And in that moment, I know– 

This isn’t over. 

Not even fucking close. 

My body jerks forward before my brain catches up, yanked by sheer instinct as Enoch moves like a fireking ventrome toward Kallias again. My breath chokes out in panic. Gamma Abel’s still in the way. Still crouched, trying to get Kali v Enoch reaches them now- 

“ENOCH!” 

The dagger cuts deeper into my skin as I twist violently, sinking my teeth into the Alpha’s wrist. He howl faltering for half a second–enough. I rip free, nearly stumbling as I throw myself down the stairs leading to the arena. M vision pulses red. The Alpha’s roar shakes the coliseum walls, orders thundering out of his mouth as warriors leap to block my path.

Shit. 

“DON’T LET HER IN!” 

I expect to be grabbed, slammed down, held back by the pack warriors lining the entrance. Instead, they freeze. Their eyes 

dart to Enoch. 

And then, they step back. 

A snarl rips through the air, raw and ancient, deep enough to vibrate through my fucking ribs. The warriors–grown men trained killers–flinch back. Their human minds fight it, but their wolves… their wolves know 

Every fiber of their primal selves bows to a presence greater than them, something in their bones telling them they are prey. They step aside without a goddamn thought. 

They immediately make way for me splitting like the Red Sea.
