"It seemed that the body appeared out of nowhere! However, it does seem strange. How was it possible that no one made a report after an entire person went missing? There's not reaction even from her family members! Could she be an orphan with no family members around? Or, is she a homeless beggar?" Chet guessed.
Then, he turned around, and gave Frederick a glance, then continued sentimentally.
"Sometimes, women are much more attentive than men are. If it weren't for the forensic medical examiner, we wouldn't have been able to solve the case and set you free so soon..."
If Frederick had to be imprisoned for a year or so, the first thing that he'd do after being released was probably to kill him.
It wasn't easy being a boss in the company! Being an assistant must be the best. There was someone above him to take the responsibility, and people below him for him to give orders to. All he had to do was to use his brain a little, and run errands every once in a while!
At the thought of that, Chet couldn't help but to look down upon himself. He sure was a loser!
How could he have such unambitious thoughts, it was no wonder he wasn't a boss!
At that moment, Frederick was distracted as well, and asked in confusion, "So, that's Willy's girlfriend's friend?"
Did he miss something? It was so complicated, and who was that lady?
"She's the one who's known as the 'poison rose', and she's an expert in drug engineering. I believe she's called Lauren, and she was previously freed from jail. Her friend is called something Weil! I've heard that Mr. Bowles seemed to have... truly fallen for this Lauren lady! However, they're both truly talented, just like people said they were!" Chet explained.
Chet's gossip made Frederick puzzled. "Okay..."
Frederick was the one who was imprisoned. How was it that Chet was still the more talkative one?
All of a sudden, Frederick caught sight of something, and his expression changed drastically. His hands started to tremble out of excitement, and he yelled, "Stop the car! Stop the car!"
"Frederick?" Chet asked.
Chet turned around, and was startled by Frederick's expression. "What's the matter, Frederick?" he asked.
Frederick blinked his eyes profusely, then rubbed them hardly. His lips trembled, Frederick screamed, and his eyes turned watery at once.
"She's still alive! She's still alive!" he exclaimed.
He reached out and showed Chet the phone. "Look, look! She's still alive, Ally is still alive! She must be still alive, she liked grandma's post!"
Chet caught sight of the screen, and was stunned as well. Mrs. Clements' feed was shown on the cell phone, and she had posted a picture of her praying sincerely in front of a temple on the mountains, with a caption 'The younger generation will do all right on their own'!
They took a look at the date, and realized that the picture had been posted the day before. They are assuming that Grandma must've posted it after hearing the news of him being held in detention!
There were two people who liked the post, one of them was Alicia, and the other one was Caroline, so it was very obvious.
"She's using her cell phone! She must still be alive!" Frederick said.
Frederick was so excited that his voice started to tremble. Grandma finally knows how to post pictures on her feed! If she liked grandma's post, does that mean that the two of them might have been in contact with each other? He thought.
He picked up his cell phone and first called Alicia a call, but was disappointed immediately. "Sorry, the number you have dialled is turned off. Please try again later, sorry..."
That instant, his face darkened at once. "Is it turned off? Why is it turned off?"
Frederick was left in a daze, and his face was pale and filled with unpleasantness. His heart began to ache, and he pressed his palm against his chest subconsciously.
Chet asked, "Are you okay, Frederick? Don't be like this, you need to calm down first! Could it be that someone else was using her phone? Or, perhaps it had been stolen? Or..."
"No! It can't be! She must be still alive! Why else would she like grandma's post? No..." Frederick denied.
He shook his head profusely, and as his head buzzed, an idea popped up in his mind. Frederick went into her feed right away, and saw that her feed was filled with familiar posts. At the sight of that, Frederick's tears began to trickle down his face.
Frederick couldn't sit still, and his heart throbbed terribly in pain, as if someone has sliced on it. "Was her phone turned off? Could she be on the plane already now?"
In front of him, Chet took out his phone and made calls immediately after receiving the instructions.
"Frederick, Alicia is a lucky woman. She survived a disaster, and she'll be fine! However, we're not sure which airport she'll be landing at," he said.
Frederick felt as if he was being tortured for every single second he had to wait. He could feel his veins popping out, and his palms were drenched in cold sweat as he clenched on tightly to his cell phone.
Ten minutes later, Chet's cell phone rang.
He turned around, and said excitedly with jumbled up words, "South City Airport, on a flight from Tampines! The plane had just taken off, and it'll be arriving at four o'clock in the afternoon!"
Were they really able to find her information? So, she was indeed alive!
It was as if they were in a dream, and all of a sudden, Chet didn't know if he should laugh or cry.
"Head to the airport! Check the location of the plane, and arrange the nearest and fastest private plane to follow that plane and watch over it with whatever connections we have! We can't allow any mistakes to happen this time!" Frederick ordered.
"Yes, sir!" Chet answered.
The two of them began to look for someone separately, and made a few calls to confirm the schedule and location of the plane then. After making the necessary arrangements, Fredrick rushed to the airport at once.
It had once been a scene that Frederick didn't dare to imagine, but at that moment, his feeling of joy was indescribable. He was willing to sacrifice the world just for the moment to be true. With his puppy in his arm and his cell phone in his hand, his heart raced as if it was going to jump out, and he wiped away his tears once again.
Returning to the airport again, Frederick's emotions were completely different from before. Every ten minutes to half an hour, someone would report about the plane's location and situation to him, and he would feel as if he was on the verge of dying every single time. When the clock struck four, the bell rang, and Frederick watched as the word 'landed' appeared on the flight notification board. He finally breathed a sigh of relief. He glanced at the crowd of people walking out of the exit, and started to worry again.
Why were there so many people? Where was she? Was she going to have a hard time walking through them?
