The more she thought about it, the more restless Vanessa felt. Vanessa was so anxious that she turned around and stood up. Willy could deduce that she was clearly not the one who made the calls.

He instantly said, "Mom, who told you that Lauren's an ex-convict?"

"Do you think I would need someone to tell me that? As soon as the photos of you two attending the Clements family's banquet came out, I heard all the gossips about her without even having to check! Vanessa painstakingly tried to persuade him again.

"Willy, I know that you're all grown up. I am not interfering with your private life, and I don't need you to find a daughter from a rich family or be with someone you aren't in love with. He was about to say that he was the one who had taken Lauren's virginity, but he was afraid that if he did that, Vanessa would suspect that Lauren was just trying to trick him.

After a pause, he changed his statement. "Mom, do you know how Lauren got out of prison?"

"Huh?"

Vanessa was stunned. Willy continued, "It was me who approached her first, and I bailed her out using the pregnancy method!"

"What?"

Vanessa's eyes widened as she let out a scream. Didn't that mean that Lauren wasn't the one who had gone after Willy?

Vanessa was not stupid. How could she not sense such an obvious contradiction?

At that point, Willy noticed the doubt in her eyes and directly went on.

"I'm not speaking up for her. I'm telling the truth. A powerless woman has already been sentenced due to a crime. Without a situation that's out of the ordinary, how could she walk out freely from prison and put her ex-boyfriend in it instead?"
