"Mom, let her rest in your room!"
Just as she was worried sick that the blame would be put on the milk that she had gotten someone to prepare for her if something bad was to happen to Lauren, Willy spoke up. Vanessa's mind was in chaos, and she replied without hesitation.
"Okay, okay, this way..."
It was because of her daily habits, as well as she was quite old then, the master bedrooms were positioned on both the first and second floor. Supporting Lauren, Willy made his way to the master bedroom on the east side of the building. He hinted with his eyes, and his subordinates behind him understandingly went over to the butler who was standing on the other side. At the same time, the Cook family never left his line of sight.
Being a man, Alfred felt a little awkward, so he did not follow them. Instead, he stayed in the hall to entertain the guests. As Willy entered the room and as soon as the door of the room closed, Willy's nervousness disappeared.
"You didn't drink the milk, did you? You are not really in pain, are you?"
Slowly standing up straight, Lauren smiled and shook her head.
Dumbstruck and pacing between the two of them, Vanessa was dumbfounded. What was going on? At that moment, Willy turned back and piped up.
"You must have gotten a scare, Mom! Laurie is fine. I'm the one who forbade her from eating anything in the house, lest someone is doing something to her! I also got her to pretend to be in pain and hide in your room for the time being!"
Returning to Vanessa's side, Willy hugged her.
"Mom, I was worried that you might let it slip, so I didn't dare to tell you in advance! I'm sorry! I might have to inconvenience you a little longer and have you accompany Laurie in your room for a while. I still have some things to settle. Soon, you'll understand what's going on!"
Vanessa nodded, and Willy looked at a maid who had followed them in. Then, she walked into the bathroom on the side. In less than three minutes, she had changed into a set of clothes and shoes that looked exactly the same as Lauren's. Even her hairstyle had become the same, and her belly was obviously bulging out. It was hard to tell the difference without careful observation.
Willy took off his jacket and draped it over the maid, then said.
"Mom, give me your cell phone for the time being, in case someone calls you and you might say something that you shouldn't! You can sit here and accompany Lauren, and I'll explain the rest when I get back!"
After arranging everything, the door of the room opened again, one of Willy's subordinate came in and said, "Master Willy, I've called emergency services. They will arrive at the back door in ten minutes."
"Understood!"
After comforting Lauren for a while, Willy carried the maid next to him and said to the confidant next to him, "Do as I ordered!"
After which, he hurriedly carried the maid out of the room. Lauren and Vanessa looked at each other in confusion.
In the quiet room, the two were speechless and somewhat dumbfounded.
Right then, in the hall outside, Wendy had noticed something was unusual and had already left her mother's side, and walked towards the obviously quiet side, which was deviated from the banquet hall.
However, at the aisle, she was stopped by the
maid.
"That's possible! Isn't it normal for pregnant women to have cramping pain? However, I heard that as they are later into the pregnancy, they're more vulnerable. It's especially easy for them to get riled up. Some criticisms might be nothing to us, but to a pregnant woman, it might even cause depression. She might even straight up die from rage. No wonder there are people who even commit suicide while pregnant! In short, it's all so troublesome. It's not wrong of us to be careful. We'd better keep on guarding and not make any mistakes again..."
The two of them seemed to be just muttering unintentionally, but Wendy already could not wait any longer and hurriedly turned around to leave. Looking at her disappearing figure at the door, a maid took her cell phone and sent a text message to Willy.
Right then, at the door, he had also changed into the maid's clothes, and went back to the master bedroom while camouflaged in the crowd.
As soon as he entered the door, he looked at Vanessa. Before he could speak, Lauren's cell phone rang. Seeing that it was an unknown number, Willy made a shushing gesture to everyone and nodded to Lauren. She pressed the loudspeaker button, and a familiar voice cut through the air.
"You sinister, shameless b*tch! You showed up uninvited, and got pregnant out of wedlock. Aren't you ashamed? Don't think that you can ruin my relationship with my son by playing the victim! Who do you think you are? Who cares about that piece of flesh in your belly?"
"If you still have a brain, then get lost!"
"You are an orphan! For a shameless, lowly creature like you, even staying alive is a waste of resources!"
That sharp and mean scolding rang through the air, and they all looked at each other. Both of them had an epiphany. Vanessa was so furious that her face turned green, while she gritted her teeth.
With a click, the door of the room was soon opened again. Two young men were pushing Wendy into the room. One of them was also holding a cell phone and something that looked like a lipstick. Right then, some chaotic noises could still be clearly heard from Lauren's cell phone.
She couldn't believe her eyes at all. Vanessa's voice pitched in shock. "Is it you?"
"Wendy? How could it be you?"
