Though she'd have to consider both Willy and Yvette's feelings, Lauren couldn't help smiling.

She took a slice of ham, but before she could put it into her mouth, Yvette blinked and reached her hand out. Amused, Lauren put the slice of ham into Yvette's plate.

That morning, Yvette would stop what she was doing and stare at Lauren whenever she moved, snatching quite a bit of food from her, forbidding her from scooping anything for Willy. As a result, she had more than she usually did, leaving the table with a round little belly.

Lauren was still all smiles when she helped Yvette get changed.

"Alright, time to go to school. You're so pretty! You're a good girl, aren't you, Yvette? We're going to be a graceful princess, so we won't fight with other children anymore, is that right?"

"Yes, Mommy..."

Yvette nodded and gave Willy a side-eyed glance before throwing herself into Lauren's arms, wrapping her arms around her neck in reluctance.

"Alright, alright, be a good girl and go to school, and Mommy will buy you a doll and make you yummy food when you come back, okay?"

Lauren comforted her a little, then checked her backpack before standing up and holding her hand.

"Let's go. Mommy and Daddy will take you to school and pick you up later in the evening. Do your best in school, and Mommy and Daddy will work hard too. What are we supposed to do?"

"Do our best! Grow up quickly and become better!"

"Yes, that's right!"

Lauren held Yvette's hand, all joyous as they walked in front while Willy walked behind him, carrying two bags, enveloped in an unusual affection.

"Bye, Mommy..."

Yvette gave Lauren a kiss at the school gates before skipping inside. Though Willy never got a chance to speak the entire time, it was his happiest day in a very long time despite the bit of disappointment and regret.

And in the next few days, living in Lauren's place, sending Yvette to school, and picking her up from school had become a routine for Willy. Worried that Yvette would hate him even more, he didn't dare bring them to his place rashly, much less be too close to Lauren in front of her.

Right then, Willy was listening to a report in the conference room, but his focus was on the clock on this laptop. It was already four-thirty; he should be picking his daughter up now!

However, an executive was still going on and on about his report, all enthusiastic.

"We can adopt a different allocation method to this quarter's funding and dividend. I've done a comparison report..."

A hint of displeasure displayed on Willy's face as he drifted his gaze up to the graph then at the executive.

So long-winded...

He was running over time now!

Willy tapped his fingertips on the table and said, "Alright, let's leave it at this! Send in a report!"

"Sorry?"

The executive had just gotten to the main point; his thoughts clearly didn't catch up to Willy's.

"Did you not hear me?"

"Right to it, Mr. Bowles!"

Willy shot a side-eyed glance at the table as he got up, then strode out of the room, Lexx following right behind. His secretary, on the other hand, quickly packed everything up.

Outside, Willy checked the time as he walked, leading Lexx to roll his eyes at his gesture,

knowing what was on his boss's mind. Seeing that Willy put on his jacket right as they entered his office, Lexx couldn't help but complain.

"Fleur, I've told you before, I'm not your daddy. I'm not here to pick you up!"

Noticing the disappointment on her face as he explained, he handed her one of the lollipops, thinking he bought three anyway. "Next time, don't call me-"

Daddy again!

Before he finished his words, Willy diverted his gaze, and immediately a stumped tiny figure came into his vision. Yvette stood at the side of the gates right then, glaring right at him, her gaze on the lollipop he and Fleur were holding.

Reflexively, Willy withdrew his hand and turned toward the gates. "Yvette..."

As he strode, he hurriedly pulled out the other two lollipops and pleasingly handed them and the Barbie doll dressed in a glamorous ball gown wrapped in a plastic wrapping to her.

"Daddy's here to pick you up!"

Yvette kept her lips pursed as she looked at the gifts, her hands still clutching the straps of her backpack. She stood motionless for quite some time until a childish boy's voice came.

"Hey, aren't you Fleur's daddy?" "How come he has become your daddy now, little witch? So your daddy will change too! Haha..."

It was said that children all didn't know any better. However, their tease rendered Willy flabbergasted, and the next second, Yvette turned around and roared.

"I'm not a little witch, you ugly monsters..."

Yvette stuck her tongue at the chubby boy, then turned around and ran away.

"Yvette..."

It took Willy a couple of seconds to realize he should chase after his daughter, but Fleur tugged on his pant leg.

"Uncle Willy, please don't go! Don't be Yvette's daddy. Be my daddy, please? My mommy and I both like you; I want you to be my daddy..."
