The anxious Trevor was behaving as though he was a guilty person giving himself away by consciously protesting his innocence. Almost at the same time, Victoria took his hand and chimed in.

"Hubby, I know you love me, but if they want to search my paintings, let them do so! Those are all painting materials, so there isn’t anything wrong with them! I brought all of it over with me. Those are professional dyes for painting. Be careful, and don't spill them!"

It was what Trevor feared, yet Victoria tried to shoulder all the responsibilities by herself. On top of feeling touched, he was more worried. Victoria, on the other hand, flashed a calm smile.

Right then, someone sent the search warrant over before the troop of police officers immediately got down to check the painting. In no time, they shook their head at Officer Lawson.

"There's no positive reaction!"

"It's impossible! It must be! Look, there are clearly traces of burnt ashes. They must have sucked the drugs and destroyed the packet. Hurry up! How can it not be detected?"

Glancing at the ashes on one side, Victoria calmly refuted.

"That is just a piece of paper I burnt. This is a painting technique of mine. I drew my husband on this painting since I intended to give it to him as a birthday present. As I wanted to express my affection and love for him even if I have to sacrifice myself in the burning flame, I chose to add some burnt ashes to the black background and integrate drips of my blood. Art requires new and creative ideas. It isn’t against the law, is it?"

While speaking, she raised her hand to reveal her wound before dipping the brush in the dye to draw a flower at the right-hand corner of the drawing board.

"This is my exclusive label! The paint has somewhat solidified after being interrupted. What a pity..."

It was a reasonable explanation. Even the crowd was doubtful, no one could say anything.

"I’ve received orders to carry out my duties. Please forgive me if I've offended you in any way!"

As soon as Officer Lawson spoke, Trevor understood that things had come to an end. "It's fine. It is my duty to cooperate with the investigation!"

Mr. Harris was obviously not reconciled. Howling, he began to point at the brush. "The brush! The dye can be destroyed, but traces will be left on the brush. Trust me!"

Since Mr. Harris would not stop creating a fuss any time then, the staff member took the test paper to check the brush. Obviously, he didn't have a good impression of Mr. Harris who gesticulated.

"Did you see that? There's no positive reaction!"

At the same time, Trevor spoke up, "Officer Lawson, I demand severe punishment towards this person who slandered and severely harmed my reputation!"

"Don't worry, Mr. Trevor. We'll enforce the law and seek justice for you!"

Fooled by Mr. Harris, Officer Lawson seethed with wrath as he remembered how he had braced himself to apply for the search warrant, but they found nothing. With a wave of his hand, two men stepped forward to throw Mr. Harris out. Soon, the group retreated in an orderly manner.

Watching everyone leave, the four of them heaved a sigh of relief. "That was close!"

Although the group had disappeared from her sight, Victoria's gaze remained fixed on the brush.

Settling on the sofa, Trevor remained gripping Victoria's hand. "Are you all right? Shall I clean your wound and bandage it up?!"

Shaking her head, Victoria comforted him in return, "It's fine. It's just a small wound and has stopped bleeding!"

Raising her hand, she indicated for him to look at her fingertip. A red dot was a stark contrast to her fair skin.

Victoria nodded at the thought that they didn't have anything to do.

Trevor then found a bottle of antiseptic and wiped it clean. The four brought a platter of fruits before. In the end, two men wrestled while the two women enjoyed their snacks. Occasionally, the four people would have a cheery chat, but in unison, none of them mentioned the powder.

"What bad luck. Where did this fiend come from?"

"Trevor, I think it's necessary for you to visit the church! How could a sudden disaster coming out of nowhere strike you? Tsk tsk..."

"Why do I feel like you're taking pleasure in my misfortune! Hey, take it out. Where did you hide it? Hurry up!"

"What’s the hurry? I’m trying to take it out, am I not?"

The two turned over their wallets and calculated their black cards. Their eyes met as they tacitly spoke to draw the snake out of the hole.

If the police officers were indeed hiding out the door and trying to catch them off guard, their conversation should have some effect.

They had been paying attention to the time and saw nothing abnormal for more than ten minutes. When Trevor hesitated about whether to give up, they heard a sound at the door. In the blink of an eye, the group outside the door broke in without a word, but right then, there were only three of them, one of which was Officer Lawson’s assistant. He had remained silent all along!

Upon barging into the room, the three of them were rendered dumbfounded.

It was because the four in the room sat on both sides of the sofa in pairs, with snacks on the table. The men's sleeves were rolled up as the two of them grabbed onto a black card as if they were trying to snatch it over. Evidently, they didn’t rush to clean up the mess and were playing games in high spirits...
