Fires of rage burned in her eyes. Waverly gritted her teeth as she uttered, "Wyatt Johnson, I'm here!"

What else could he be talking about?

They locked gazes. Her eyes were blazing, whilst his was freezing.

"No one asked for you. Get out!"

Wyatt's tone was cold as his words were ruthless. He turned around instantly after finishing his words.

Waverly's face burned hot as she faced the cold, hard rejection. However, it was a rare opportunity, and she had to take it. She stepped forward, ran past him, and stood in front of him once more.

"Wyatt Johnson! What are you doing? Jake's a good cop. He's dedicated and passionate, and he protects our society with his life. You're part of this society, too. That means that he's also protecting and serving you!

How could you set him up? How could you be so-"

"Evil? Despicable? Shameless? Cruel?" Wyatt interrupted.

The mockery in his voice was clear. His eyes darkened as his tone turned cold.

"This is what comes with his career! He chose this career, so he can't complain now! I'm not paying billions of dollars of taxes for trash like him!"

The more she behaved like that, the more enraged he was!

Waverly was ticked off as well, "You set him up!"

"Nothing comes out of nothing!"

Waverly was speechless. Her long eyelashes fluttered as her cheeks were pink with anger.

He wasn't all wrong. If Jake had just minded his own business, none of this would've happened!

However, how could humans be so heartless? They couldn't just turn a blind eye to those in need just to "avoid trouble", right?

Sometimes, nothing just made sense. The only thing Jake did wrong was that he had given Wyatt a chance to slander him!

Perhaps Jake deserved some of the troubles he got, but he didn't hurt anyone. He deserved that severe punishment! The lawyer's words lingered in her mind, "at least ten years." At least ten years of imprisonment. Waverly took a long, deep breath before continuing.

"Wyatt, you hid Stacey, didn't you? Can I see her, please?"

The first sentence was a question, but Waverly sounded absolutely sure about the answer. The second sentence was a question, too, but it sounded more like a pleading.

The humbler she was, the angrier Wyatt became, "I don't care who the heck you wanna see!"

What he meant was that he didn't know where Stacey was, and she didn't need his consent to see her.

The moment he finished speaking, Wyatt turned and left. After leading her away from the casino, he turned around and instinctively wanted to end their conversation. He couldn't hold in his emotions much longer.

"Don't disturb me while I gamble!"

"Wyatt, why are you dragging innocent men into this! If you're unhappy with me, you can just come at me! Doesn't your heart ache when you pull the innocent into this mess?"

Why attack the people she cared about? Wouldn't that just drive her further away from him?

He was clearly trying to ruin Jake's life!

Waverly knew it had something to do with her! She couldn't think of any other reason behind his disdain for Jake!

Wyatt cleared his throat.

He then halted. He felt something blocking his heart.

He was merely scornful in the past, he never meant for things to go so far! It was all because of her! She never gave him a chance to compete fairly. She was so ruthless that she burned the bridges between them. She left him for another man when he needed her and wanted her the most!

It was a thorn in his heart. He could neither pull it out nor press it in! He tried not to touch it, but it still hurt like h*ll!

As Wyatt paused and collected his thoughts, Waverly grew more furious. She had already humbled herself, why wasn't he stating his conditions? Scoundrel! He just wanted Jake dead!

However, Wyatt was her only hope. If she doesn't find that woman, or if that woman doesn't side with her, Jake's life would be over!

Just when she thought she was about to die, the force on her throat suddenly disappeared.

Waverly coughed heavily as the fresh oxygen rushed into her lungs.

She was disorientated for a second. Before she could come back to her senses, a loud "bang" sounded beside her. Wyatt had thrown a punch against the wall, and his strong arm had brushed right past her face. She felt a chill run down her spine.

"Waverly, you're getting bolder every day! No one, no one has threatened me before! Go! Go hack my computers! Try it, and we shall see if you'll be meeting me or the police!"

Wyatt pinched her delicate jaw and felt like crushing it.

"I hid Stacey Galan away! That sc*m wanted to kill his wife for the insurance. It was easy money, but he never expected someone to switch his knife last minute. I gave him a gentle push, but he sent himself to h*ll! Waverly, you think I'm wicked, don't you? I didn't handle things well with my ex, and I understand that you blame me for dragging you into this mess, but that d*mn cop? You're threatening me forthat d*mn cop?"

She had fallen for that cop! Wyatt was certain!

If she hadn't fallen for Jake, she wouldn't have begged Wyatt for his sake. She wouldn't have threatened Wyatt for his sake! Just like how she begged Wyatt for that d*mn husband of hers! She was doing everything again, but for a different man.

Wyatt hated that. It was physically painful to see the woman he craved falling for a man that was not him.

Why? They were supposed to be together, but why did she fall for someone else? What was worse was that he couldn't get rid of her! Why couldn't he just f*cking move on?

He did everything for her!

"Who do you think you are? Do you think I'll help him because I'm a little bit interested in you? Yeah, you're right. I'm a big bully! I like seeing you two suffer! The more you beg for him, the more I want to-SHATTER. HIM!"

Wyatt withdrew his fist and pushed Waverly away. He was so powerful that Waverly almost fell to the ground.

"Do whatever you want! I'd like to see who'll last till the very end! Me, or him?"

Wyatt pulled on his sleeves and threw her a cold, deadly glance.

"No, you can't!"

Before Waverly could utter anything else, a sweet voice rang out, "Wyatt, there you are! I've been looking all over for you!"
