The two of them locked gazes. Quill lowered his voice and mumbled, "It's alright, no worries! Waverly, may I have the honor to dance with you once more?"

Waverly felt his sincerity. She nodded and accepted the invitation with a faint smile.

She placed her tiny hand in his. They moved closer and closer to each other as the dance began.

Latin was quite common among adults. The dance was also typically used to express the love and affection between partners. That was why most Latin dance partners were, in fact, couples. That way, they could express their emotions freely to the other party without holding back.

Waverly was a serious woman. She never took anything lightly, and dancing was no exception.

When Wyatt got down the stairs, his face turned green seeing Quill with his loved one.

He was still quite far away from the couple, plus it was a noisy room, so he couldn't catch what they were saying. However, their intimacy inflicted flames of rage inside him. The flames engulfed his rationality, and before he knew it, he was already beside Waverly as his fist made contact with Quill's body. Chaos ensued.

"Quill Lewis! I'm warning you! I don't care what your true motive is, but you stay away from her! If you touch her again, I'll break every single bone in that wretched body of yours!"

Wyatt subsequently dragged Waverly out with a gloomy face.

He suppressed his fury as much as he could, but when they reached East Bannpool, he couldn't control himself any longer.

"I know what you're thinking, and I'm telling you it's a bad idea! Quill doesn't like you, Quill will never like you! He's been madly in love with Raynee for who knows how long! He likes Raynee Wagner, you hear me? Raynee Wagner! Not you, Waverly, not you! Did you seriously fall for his stupid tricks, hmm? Have you forgotten what he did to you? Why the h*ll were you even with him?"

What the actual f*ck was going on?

Wyatt was furious, but he didn't know who he was angry at. He just knew he was bubbling with rage, and he didn't know what to do with it.

He held onto her wrist until it reddened. Waverly lowered her gaze, but instead of regret or misery, she expressed scorn.

It wasn't impossible.

Nothing was impossible. Wyatt used to be madly in love with Raynee, too. And look where he ended up.

Waverly started getting more and more interested in this woman named Raynee Wagner.

It annoyed her, those two words. Raynee Wagner. Ugh. She hadn't even met the renowned woman yet, but that woman had already irritated her.

Thoughts swarmed Waverly's mind. She wanted to explain, to fend for herself, to say something, but-she smiled. She only smiled, and stayed silent. Wyatt was overthinking. The relationship between Waverly and Quill wasn't what it seemed to be, and she wasn't as foolish as he thought her to be, too. She knew Quill was a cunning man. However, she just wasn't in the mood to argue with this man in front of her!

His thoughts meant nothing to her!

Regardless, another unhappy thought abruptly flashed across Waverly's mind. "Does he think," she wondered, "Raynee's better than me? Does he think I'm inferior to her?'

Waverly averted her gaze and turned to leave.

Waverly's spontaneous actions stunned Wyatt for a couple seconds, but he quickly reacted and grabbed her again.

They exchanged glances as Waverly turned around to say, "Let go."

Her tone was arctic, and her eyes...the way she looked at him, it was as though she were looking at a complete stranger! There were no signs of warmth in her stunning eyes, and her coldness made Wyatt shudder unconsciously. However, his grip on her remained tight.

"I said let go!"

Her tone only grew colder. Wyatt couldn't believe his ears, "Waverly?"

"Mr. Johnson, what are you doing? I didn't know you were so mercurial."

Waverly forcefully withdrew her hand. She took a glimpse at her red wrist before turning to leave again.

Of course, Wyatt remembered the venoms he spat at her. Despite that, Waverly's reminder still ripped open the unhealed wound on his heart and subsequently sprinkled it with salt. It was painful. It was agonizing. It was worse than death. Regardless, he couldn't deny the fact that he was drawn to her. Perhaps she had drugged him with some love potion, or maybe he had lost his mind, but he knew that she, Waverly Castle, was the woman of his dreams, and he'd do anything to make his dreams a reality.

She only longed for one thing. True love. One single, simple thing, yet God gave her wealth, family, everything! Everything but true love!

God was cruel, yet fair. No one can have everything in life. Waverly was no exception.

She suddenly realized how big of an issue sexism was. You could be a notorious playboy, but as long as you were rich, girls would still defend you, and you'd have a long line of them waiting for their turn to be with you. But what about her? She was a serious woman who took everything seriously. She didn't date for fun, she dated in hopes of marriage, but she just so happened to marry men who were physically unhealthy, and what did the public see of her? A jinx. A jinx who killed her husband. They saw neither the woman who loved her husband with all her heart, nor the woman who drowned herself in tears for her loved ones. She was a jinx, and only a jinx.

Waverly suddenly recalled those matchmakers.

She hadn't intended to get married again so soon, but she was at a low point in life, and the matchmakers kept recommending the same lad. She really felt like giving up and going on with it.

She still remembered those matchmakers’ words.

"You're a woman, and women need someone who loves them! Their appearance and age don't matter, what matters is their wealth, power, and solemnity! Older men tend to be more caring, too!" The matchmakers were just doing their jobs, but their words still unsettled her.

She came from a rich family, and young men usually have neither the patience nor earnestness to take care of her extensive needs. Unless she was a sugar momma, though. That'd be a different story. But she didn't want that.

Waverly grew more and more furious with the thought in mind.

She just wanted someone who truly, truly loved her. She didn't care about his status, wealth, or power. Of course, she wanted someone her age too, someone who could get her, someone who'd click with her. That was exactly why she left Yecaeus City. She hid her identity and never revealed her family's wealth or power. She neither wanted nor needed another Franklin Wright.

She didn't expect Wyatt to think of her as worthless, though!

She wasn't going to compromise, not this time! She'd rather be single forever! He wasn't going to get his hands on her ever again!

Wyatt felt his cheeks burn. The gleam in his eyes slowly dimmed.

Waverly threw the man a death glare before criticizing, "You're unworthy!"

He was only fit to be with wh*res and sl*ts! He should be with his own kind.
