......
Sure enough, that night, Waverly received a call from Wyatt. He told her that he would have to go on a short business trip. She didn't mention the chip since she was worried that it would affect his work.
Wyatt went on his business trip, and Franklin wasn't disturbing her anymore. Her life suddenly grew peaceful. Waverly's attention was completely drawn to her figure.
That day, in an attempt to lose weight, she chose to start the change with her dinner. All she had was some soup before going to sleep early.
However, before midnight, she woke up from how hungry she was. She rolled around on the bed for a long time, and eventually had to get up.
"Ugh..."
She was really starving to death. It was too hard!
She couldn't fall back asleep, but she didn't want her efforts to go to waste, either. When she got up, she first drank some water, then went to lie down on the bed again. Before she could even fall asleep, she was overcome with the urge to use the toilet. When she went to the bathroom and opened the door, she was in complete despair.
"Why am I hungry again?"
She lowered her head and touched her belly. She felt around for her stomach and frowned. Waverly wondered, "Have I been infected by a tapeworm? Why am I never full? Why would I get fatter if it was because of a tapeworm, though? How annoying!"
"Should I eat or not?" she thought aloud.
After a long time, she yawned and was struggling with that question. At first, she figured that it was hard since she was just starting out, and all she had to do was bear with it.
Nobody would have thought that she would be so hungry, tired, and uncomfortable after so long. The self-control she had been so proud of was collapsing bit by bit. She was too lazy to move and took out a packet of biscuits from the drawer. After a few bites, she felt a lot better. The packet of biscuits, which was smaller than the size of her palm, went straight into her stomach. Her whole body felt better.
"This is so effective!"
As expected, one had to eat in order to feel energized.
When she lay back down, she began snoring as she slept. Once she opened her eyes, it was already bright outside.
She stretched, but the satisfied smile on her face froze when she saw the electronic scale not far away from her feet. She rushed to the bathroom first. Waverly took a deep breath and stood up. She narrowed her eyes, and it felt like she had been hit in the head.
"How can this be?"
All she had eaten throughout the day was soup and boiled vegetables. At night, she ate a tiny packet of biscuits. However, she hadn't lost any weight at all. It shouldn't be possible. In the past, she would have lost at least 200 grams after eating like that. She should have at least lost some weight in water.
She racked her brains and seemed to have thought of something. She couldn't help smacking her head in annoyance. Was it because of the water that she had drunk the night before?
It was unbelievable!
However, maybe she looked thinner even though her weight hadn't changed.
With a little hope, Waverly went to take a look in the mirror. The frown on her face deepened instantly. She was swollen! Once again, she had gained weight. She was so swollen that she couldn't even lie to herself.
Looking up at the sky, she shrieked twice. "Argh! Ugh! This is so unfair."
Casting her gaze back down, she could only sigh. "Fine. I'll continue eating boiled vegetables. This time, I won't add any salt."
If she didn't lose weight after that, it simply didn't make sense.
......
In the following two days, Wyatt didn't go home. Throughout their time as newlyweds, Waverly spent almost all her time fighting her own body. Since she didn't have to do too much physical and mental labor, she decided to go with doing nothing at all. She would only eat a few boiled vegetables when she was so hungry that she couldn't take it anymore, and tried to spend most of her time reading or sleeping. No matter what, she wanted to lose 6 kilograms before anything else.
Trying to lose weight was always hard. She would start drooling at the thought of the meat. However, when she weighed herself again three days later, seeing the exact same results made her feel like she had been stabbed in the heart.
"What's going on?"
She had already eaten so little, and she was so hungry that she almost felt dizzy. How could she only have lost 200 grams? At this rate, she was going to die of starvation. She was probably going to get depressed if she continued to fail at losing weight.
"This is so weird!" Why wasn't it working?
She had maintained her figure for so many years. Why was it suddenly so difficult? Was there something wrong with her body? However, it wasn't like she felt any discomfort other than her constant hunger.
At that moment, she actually began to doubt herself.
Did she have some kind of endocrine disorder? Had her hormones gone wrong?
A thought flashed through her mind. Waverly suddenly realized that she didn't have her period last month, and it seemed to be late that month, too. Her chest didn't feel bloated, which meant that she wouldn't get her period within the next two days, at least.
It was not normal!
She knew she couldn't keep putting effort into something useless. Waverly gritted her teeth and changed her clothes. "This won't do. I'd better go to the hospital!"
What kind of rotten luck did she have that day?
Before the man could finish his words, Waverly snapped, "He's been detained, has he? Go get the money you want from hell!"
After saying that, she hung up with a slam. "They didn't even try to lie!"
As soon as she was about to move, her phone lit up again with the same number. She declined and blocked the number. "How annoying. Are scammers nowadays so persistent?"
How could they call her back when she clearly wasn't falling for it?
When she got back to her seat, Waverly looked at the remaining battery on her phone and began to feel sad. Oh no! It should at least last until I get my results, right?
Just as she turned off the phone and shut her eyes, she felt a slight vibration from her hand. She was so angry that she suddenly opened her eyes. Who on earth was calling?
"Seth?"
His heart suddenly missed a beat. A bad feeling welled up in the bottom of Waverly's heart. Sure enough, as soon as she answered the phone, she heard Seth's anxious voice.
"Waverly, something's happened to Wyatt..."
......
She hurried home with a pale face. She wondered, "What's going on? Why would Wyatt hurt somebody? Not to mention, it was apparently intentional and the injuries are serious!"
He was not such an impulsive person, so why would he provoke Franklin and cause a serious injury? On top of that, it was at a critical moment when the lawsuit had yet to be settled.
She had a splitting headache, but Waverly was burning with anxiety. "Isn't he on a business trip?"
Hadn't he said that there would be a bit of delay, and they might only return two days later?
Seth nodded and explained the situation.
"We wrapped things up early. Wyatt said he wanted to hurry up and go back, so we were preparing to return. We wanted to go back to the company to deal with some things, and Wyatt said that we would contact you after we arrived in Casterwich City. However, something happened to our car on the way back. When I was dealing with it, Wyatt went to a cafe nearby. I don't know how, but Wyatt went to the alley beside the cafe and saw Franklin, then stabbed him... When I got there, Franklin was already lying in a pool of blood. Wyatt's hands were covered with blood. The whole time, he just stood there, stunned. I was the one who called 911!"
He smacked his head. Seth was also confused by the busy day. He waved his hand and obviously had an unclear stance.
"Then, things became very chaotic. When the ambulance took Franklin away, the police arrived, though I don't know who called them. They said that Franklin had suffered excessive blood loss from the intentional assault, and immediately detained Wyatt. I called a lawyer and also went to the hospital to learn about the situation. They said that the knife wound on Franklin's body was very deep. There's also the issue of the existing conflict and the surveillance showing that Wyatt took the initiative to look for him. The last phone call that Franklin received was from Wyatt, too. There was blood on Wyatt's hands, and they couldn't figure out where the knife had come from, so he was detained..."
