......
The most important thing at hand was that they couldn't let the situation get worse. They couldn't give anyone a chance to take advantage of it. Wyatt's detainment was definitely temporary, but he was still the one in charge. Even if he was only locked away for a second, that could throw everyone under his command into chaos.
As she spoke, Waverly had already quickly come up with two sets of plans. However, she couldn't help feeling annoyed.
Wyatt had long been aware of the chip. If he had been aware of Franklin's end goal, perhaps he could have avoided this accident. However, there were always too many coincidental situations, and neither of them could be frank with the other. If not for her, Wyatt wouldn't have known that Franklin had seen the secret in the phone.
Waverly didn't have the energy to complain about how she had backed down and been forgetful lately, either. She could deal with chaos, but she was frustrated that her body was acting up, too.
Seth, who had been completely intimidated by her momentum, subconsciously replied, "Yes!"
As soon as he finished speaking, he was absent-minded for a moment. Then, he slowed down and said, "I know what to do, Waverly. I'm going to make a call now!"
"Okay. I'll go upstairs to pack up!"
After that, the two went their separate ways. One went upstairs and the other went to a secluded place outside the door.
......
At that moment, Wyatt was in the detention room, looking at his own hand. His mind gradually recovered from the chaos.
The first thought that came into his mind was that he had been tricked and fallen into someone's trap.
Was it Franklin?
Had he done it because of Waverly?
Wyatt was surprised that Franklin had put in so much effort and was even willing to let himself sustain such serious injuries just to seem like the victim. Wasn't it a bit excessive?
After thinking about it for a long time, Wyatt still couldn't understand. Regardless, he had to focus on getting out of there for the time being.
Closing his eyes, he recalled the whole process. While he was thinking about any possible clues, he suddenly heard a cold, heavy sound, which seemed to be an iron door getting pushed open. Instinctively, he slowly opened his eyes, and then saw a familiar figure appear in his sight:
"Please come inside, Mrs. Johnson! You only have ten minutes."
"Okay. Thank you!"
As soon as she entered the room, Waverly subconsciously glanced at the surveillance camera in the room and straightened up. Wyatt caught on to her subtle movements. "Waverly?" Why was she here?
"Hubby, the police told me to bring you some clothes. You might not be able to leave for the time being!" Waverly huffed impatiently.
Wyatt seemed to have sensed something. He held her hand across the table but didn't say anything else.
"Are you okay? Don't worry about me! I'll be fine!"
Waverly nodded and forcefully shook his hand. Then, she spoke loudly and forcefully.
"I'll cut to the chase, Hubby. I need to know the whole story of the incident. Tell me any details and key points that you can think of, starting from the moment you got out of the car until the incident happened."
Since he was getting framed, she suspected that there might be traps in the police station. To be safe, she eyed the surveillance camera and did not dare to mention the chip. However, she was afraid that she would say something she shouldn't. When she entered the room and caught sight of the surveillance cameras, she thought of the various ways they could be monitored and decided to go for a different tactic. She became even more cautious.
The most important thing right then was the case regarding the intentional injury. Aside from that, if something incriminating was exposed at a time like that, he would never be able to clear his name. After all, it was a big crime and taboo to be involved with drugs. Secretly being involved and openly being involved were two completely different things.
Since they had been together for such a long time, they had a kind of tacit understanding with each other. Thus, Wyatt didn't waste time and went straight to the point.
"Our car got scratched by another car on the road, and Seth got out of the car to deal with it. I took a call and wanted to take a seat at a nearby cafe. When I was almost at the door, a little boy came and asked me for directions. He was about five or six years old. I showed him the directions, and he told me that a man called Mr. Wright was looking for me. He asked me to give the man a call," he explained.
"Do you have Franklin's phone number?" Waverly asked.
Wyatt shook his head before continuing.
"His phone number was written on the balloon in the child's hand! I found it strange at the time, too. I asked the kid who told him to come looking for me, and how he knew that man. The child might have been too young to explain clearly, so he turned around and ran away. I was confused, so I called the number. That's when I remembered that it was Franklin.
"You'll have to suffer for a few days, Hubby. The impact of this case is very bad. We can only deal with it in a low-profile manner. We are law-abiding citizens. Even if we've done many things for charity, even royalty have to be punished when they break the law. We don't have special privileges and have to go through the procedures. We are innocent, and I believe the law will definitely give us justice. You must be patient. I've brought you a few books for you to relieve your boredom"
Waverly stared straight at him and shook his hand tightly. However, she subtly shook her head. Wyatt caught onto her subtle hint and didn't continue to say anything. Instead, he nodded his head.
"I know!"
Those words of hers weren't for him to hear, were they?
From the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a red dot. Wyatt immediately understood why Waverly had interrupted him several times. When she entered, all she did was ask questions instead of expressing her own opinions.
"It's only been a few days since I last saw you, and you look so sickly. Have you not been taking good care of yourself?" Wyatt asked. He had a clear conscience and confidence in the people working on the outside. He came back to his senses and regained his rationality.
Waverly rubbed her face and once again thought of what had been plaguing her. However, at that moment, she couldn't care about anything else. When she was about to say something, the voice of the guard suddenly came from the door.
"Your time is up, Mrs. Johnson. You should leave now!"
"Okay. Thank you!"
Waverly turned around and shook his hand at the same time. "Honey, wait for me. I'll get you out of here soon."
Just when they had separated, Waverly turned back and shouted as she thought of something.
"Honey! I forgot to ask you something. Last time, when we fought, I ran away from home and took a video for you on a phone. Have you seen it? That old phone was the first phone that my father gave me. It holds a lot of memories, and it's really important. Do you still have it?" she questioned.
"Of course! I saw it, and I know what you meant. Whenever I miss you, I often watch it. Everything about you, including your aura, was properly recorded.
As soon as Wyatt finished speaking, Waverly instantly broke out into a smile. She reluctantly walked out and said, "Honey, you must take good care of yourself. I'll wait for you to return that phone to me personally!"
Judging from his state, he probably hadn't discovered it yet. That was a relief.
