Giselle quickly answered.

"One of the technicians went in to clean up when he realized that the plugs were wrongly installed and the machine was broken. When we checked the surveillance, the machine was working fine two days ago. Yesterday, only Jennifer and Alicia entered the lab. Miss Blanchard was the last person to enter. She's a newcomer, whereas Jennifer is an experienced employee. She's familiar with the machine, so it's impossible for her to commit such a rookie mistake..."

Giselle's voice gradually lowered as she wasn't sure who was the one who caused the machine to malfunction.

Alicia was unconvinced by her words.

"Why did you only tell half of the story? We both went in yesterday and realized that the machine was broken. The surveillance footage shows only the two of us went in. I've clarified that I only went in to retrieve some documents and never touched the machine. I'm not sure whether Jennifer did or not. However, since both of us did enter the lab, I've accepted the fact that we should write a report as both of us are suspects. However, when I arrived at the office today, Jennifer pushed the blame on me and told everyone that I've caused the malfunction. Now, the whole office is saying that I'm the culprit and they are forcing me to admit my mistake! I didn't want to, so I asked her to apologize and clear my name! Although I'm a newcomer, it doesn't mean that I'm the one at fault. I will not take the blame for this. Without solid evidence, don't think of slandering me!"

As soon as Alicia finished her words, Frederick turned to look at Giselle. Giselle's expression was thunderous as she glared at Alicia. She gritted her teeth and growled at her.

"Don't you know the rules? You don't have the right to speak here."

How dare she talk nonsense in front of the CEO?

"Is what she said true?"

He stared at Giselle and she shivered in fear, "Yes!"

It was a taboo here to respond in a vague manner.

After understanding the situation, Frederick came up with a suggestion.

"Since the responsibility lies between the two of you, there are two methods. One, whoever takes the initiative to admit the mistake, will not be held accountable nor punished. You can also provide evidence to prove your innocence. Two, Jennifer will write a statement to apologize to Alicia and clear her name. Then, both of you will take the responsibility together and be deducted one month's salary! Of course, if you don't accept this, there's a third option. We'll investigate this matter. Whoever is responsible for this will be fired. If there was no way to determine who's at fault, both of you will resign together!"

No one would choose the first option. Frederick preferred the second option. Although it was fair, he was slightly partial to Alicia. After all, if Jennifer wrote an apology, she would be admitting that she was slandering Alicia. The third option was simply him putting pressure on everyone!
