Was it really Jeremy?

For a split second, Alicia was disconcerted. What's wrong with him?

Jeremy hardly gave her calls at night. Even if he had wanted to bother her, he mostly sent her messages. So what was troubling him he had to call her at this hour? Did he know Frederick wasn't with her?

With furrowed brows, Alicia asked politely, "Anything?"

'Ally, are you and him separated? What happened between you two? Or did you already know..."

"Jeremy! Are you truly that bored?” He was calling her in the middle of the night just to put his nose into her privacy?

With just one sentence, Alicia felt her anger rising.

"We are doing well, so you have nothing to worry about. You should take care of your own mess first. If you're a good man, then try not to hurt another good girl! At the very least, both of your families will still be on good terms!"

"Frederick was drinking and flirting with another

woman. Are you both alright?"

Jeremy' s sarcastic tone cut through Alicia's eardrums all of a sudden as she was about to hang up on him. Her face fell instantly.

"Ally, are you lying to me or to yourself? I called because I care about you, not because I want to make a fool out of you! Is it worth pretending that both of you are happily together in front of me? Ally, are you doing this to get back at me? I admit that Frederick has the looks and the status. In Casterwich City, he is second to none. It'd be great to be his girl. He's also richer and even head and shoulders above me, which I accept. It's just that I feel uncomfortable since you're with him. But this feeling isn't because you found a man who's better than me. It's because of me losing you. Do you understand?"

Jeremy's said that angrily and hurriedly.

"Do you want to remain silent for the rest of your life just to look good on the outside? While it may be so and envied by many, but behind you'll have to share your husband with someone else and cave in to everything after. Is this what you want? So you're going to help him support the mistress and their illegitimate children? All these giving in just for a womanizer? Or is it because his glamorous status could outshine me, which makes you happy?"

While Jeremy was getting all emotional and continued blathering on, Alicia, on the other hand, looked at her phone from time to time. A dumbfounded Alicia asked, "Jeremy, are... are you drunk? Have you been drinking? I don't have time for your nonsense!"

"Alicia! I just saw him leaving a nightclub with a woman in his arms. They looked really intimate with the kissing and hugging. Do you need me to tell you what was going to happen next? How long do you still want to lie to me? I already know that you have moved out of his house!"

When he had heard the rumors initially, Jeremy couldn't wrap his head around why this happened. But even so, he would still see them together. He was thinking of finding out what really happened and asking Alicia for confirmation once he was no longer busy. He hadn't expected to witness that scene!

With her kind of personality, how could Alicia accept this?

Their relationship wasn't really rock solid after all!

"Jeremy Pitcher! Are you out of your mind? Calling me at midnight just to badmouth him? Let me tell you, I don't believe a word you’re saying. Not a single word! From now onwards, you are not to slander him! You think too highly of yourself! Whether I am with him or not is none of your concern! I am with him because I like him and I love him! And one day, if I ever choose to leave, that'll be because I no longer love him! You're crazy! F**k!"

In the end, Alicia got so furious that after a good bout of scolding, she abruptly ended the call. It was supposed to be a peaceful night but this just came out of nowhere, thus the sudden flush of anger.

How shameless! Just what was he thinking trying to blabber to her in such drunken condition and during midnight?

She'd be as smart as bait if she really believed him.

After switching her phone to silent mode, Alicia had the music blaring and screamed her lungs out to vent her anger.
