Alicia was really not used to hearing his wretched voice. Her heart began to soften.

She turned around and glared at him, but said nothing.

Right at that moment, there was a sound of the stomach rumbling. Then, Frederick clasped her waist. "I’m hungry. Eat with me."

As he spoke, there was another rumbling. Alicia bit her lower lip angrily and said, "You did it on purpose, didn't you? You ruined the eggs and groceries. How am I supposed to make anything for you to eat?"

"Then, let’s go out to eat. You left after dropping off breakfast this morning. Then, you spoke to me in that tone. How could I have any appetite to eat at all?"

Frederick's stomach felt uncomfortable from not eating and he suddenly felt a little dizzy. As he closed his eyes, he let go of her and braced his hand on the wall.

"Stop pretending! I’m not going to fall for that."

Pouting, Alicia remembered how he had pushed her away once and it lit a fire inside her.

She turned around and opened the door quickly. However, she was very surprised when he didn't follow her. She spied on him out of the corner of her eye and saw him pressing his hand on his stomach while grimacing with pain. It didn't look like he was faking it.

She threw down the things in her hands and ran back, "Hey, Frederick, are you okay?"

He pursed his lips and shook his head. However, he was sweating profusely.

Alicia reached out to prop him up. "Don't scare me! What’s wrong with you?"

"I'm hungry and my stomach hurts."

This horrible man! He was really making her life difficult.

Alicia supported him and dragged him into the house. She put him on the sofa, then made him a cup of warm oat before she searched for the medicine for his gastric pain.

After wiping away the sweat on his forehead, she gently massaged his forehead and said, "How are you feeling now? Do you want to go to the hospital?"

Frederick closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He squeezed Alicia' s hand, then got up to hug her and said, "It's all right. Just let me hold you for a while.”

Alicia thumped against his chest. "Liar! You're not ill!"

Then, she saw that his brows knitted together when her fists landed on his chest. It seemed that he hadn't regained his strength yet. She had never seen him so weak. He had yet to recover fully from the incident the night before. Alicia inadvertently softened and sighed.

"Don't force yourself! Are you really alright?"

He shook his head wearily while still holding her. Once again, he leaned his head on her shoulder.

"I'm fine. It's an old problem. I just need to rest for a while. In the past, when my business was still in its infancy, I would only eat when I had time to spare. When I was working, I rarely stopped to eat or I would just simply grab a quick bite before continuing to work. I neglected my health in the past. I haven't had this gastric pain in a long while. Back then, I would just ignore it, but it's nice to have someone care for me now."

"Don't fool yourself. I don't feel sorry for you!"

Alicia grumbled but didn't push him away. When it came to Frederick, it was a love-hate relationship.

The corner of his mouth twitched upwards as he said, "Make me something to eat! I'm so hungry..."

"What would you like to eat?"

Those words came out abruptly. Alicia blushed and pinched herself. She scolded herself in her heart, "Why did you say that!"

Frederick continued to act weak and did not expose her, he answered, "I don't mind anything, really."

Since she really thought he was starving, she didn’ t hesitate. After making sure that he was comfortable, she went into the kitchen. Knowing that he couldn't ingest much due to the gastric pain, she made him a vegetable soup with the pressure cooker.

Frederick marched to the front door sluggishly. Once he was outside, the door was shut in his face. He paced back and forth in front of the door for a long while. Inside the house, Alicia also peered at him a few times.

After that day, their relationship took a subtle turn. They were intimate but also awkward. Their positions had also changed. Naturally, Alicia rarely took the initiative to contact him. After being rejected at the door that day, Frederick realized the severity of the matter, so he inevitably became more eager to keep in touch with her.

After he finished his work for the day, Frederick had nothing planned for the night. He made a phone order for a bouquet of roses.

He was on the phone with Alicia when he walked out of the florist with the roses in his hand. "I know where the Lovely Scent is. See you soon."

Frederick walked happily to his car and drove off.

Behind him, Danica who had just come out of the cafe, saw him. She thought in disbelief, "Wasn't he busy and on a business trip?”

She hailed a taxi and followed after him. While on the road, she kept calling his number. "Where are you? Let's have dinner tonight. You did say you are going to give me a chance! You can't go back on your words.”

"Danica, please forget what happened in the cold storage. I was freezing at the time. I don't remember what I said. Chet has already told you what I meant to say. I am busy. If it's about work, you can ask Doris for help.”

Before Danica could react, he hung up the call. She stared dully at the phone and muttered to herself.

"No! No!” How could he treat her like this?

"Miss, should I stop?"

The taxi driver asked. Danica looked up and saw the scene at the roadside. She saw a woman holding a large bouquet of glamorous red roses. Frederick was holding her shoulders. Under the sunset, the two looked at each other and chatted about something. The woman in white was smiling brightly.
